This month we discuss just how essential your Patreon support was due to an unforeseen predicament, Jay's interest in all things samurai with Nioh 2 and Leon's special edition Bubble Bobble package. They also read out the feedback for our podcasts from the past month.Oh, and there's some bonus Star Wars chatter too!

Oh boy, I’ve been waiting for this one *rubs hands together*. Just in time as I was about to go pick up the car from the shop 😍

(Leon): Correction - Bubble Memories not Bubble Melodies (brain fart)!

The GOG thing where it collates all your collections is amazing. I'm not sure if I had to add it, but there Is definitely a thing to add Twitch/Amazon games. I'm on mobile and don't have a link though, sorry. But it exists!

Good pod again. Re physical game sales, a rising tide life all boats.I believe games spending overall is increased significantly (more so under COVID). Digital distribution is winning share, but because the market is growing physical can lose share but still grow. For every special edition of an indie game, there's a big AAA title that's more digitally bought than before, never mind microtransactions.

Also re recording, something you probably already know. Most of the Zoom/skype/webex things have a 'hand up' feature, lets the host know who wants to speak even if you don't use video

Just listened to the first part of the pod, really interesting. Just in terms of audio vs video recording, we've just moved over to recording our Retro Asylum podcasts using video. We still release them as audio podcasts but we've found that recording using video does add a lot to the quality of the interaction. You can see easily when others are disengaging or are ready to speak. We are quite good at not talking over one another and we also edit comprehensively but the video chat has cut down the editing time somewhat. As for releasing video podcasts, they're not for me. We released one recently as a bit of a novelty but I can't see it becoming a regular thing. I consume podcasts whilst running, driving or generally away from a screen so I would always prefer audio.

Videos as a bonus along with the podcast would be a great addition

I remember hearing about the GOG thing, but I never tried it. I'm kind of wary of giving it a go as the amount of games I own might scare me. Especially the ones I haven't played...anyway, I think the videos would be a good way of putting names to faces, but it would be more of a novelty to me than something I'd watch regularly.

Catching up on this and interesting to hear Jay's thoughts on spoilers. My girlfriend is the same, we'll put a film on and she'll sit and Wiki the entire plot, it really infuriates me haha. I really don't like spoilers, I've already had major parts of TLOU2 spoiled, and also had the big spoiler in RDR2 ruined for me to, and I was really disappointed. So Jay, would you look up the plot for every film? For example The Usual Suspects, surely the major enjoyment in that film is not knowing the big twist - I can't imagine watching it for the first time knowing it's coming!

Pleased to hear that our Patreon support helped Jay out of a bind with his computer . So happy to keep supporting my favourite podcast.
