In our latest single format, one console special podcast we look at Microsoft’s Xbox 360. Leon, Jay, Tony, Jon and community contributors remember the flawed yet mighty machine’s 2005 launch through Red Ring of Death drama, Summer of Arcade celebration, 1 vs 100 hilarity and Kinect cackles. As usual among the talk of blades, chat pads and Inside Xbox, we also cover off a selection of the significant software titles from the 360’s eight year innings.Edited by Jay Taylor

I’m just laughing at your use of the achievement pop noise to cover up presumably Jay swearing.

Dudes this was impeccable timing, I was in desperate need of something to listen to on my commute! Regarding the 360 naming convention, I remember at the time hearing it was because they didn't want to call it Xbox 2 as it would sound somehow inferior to PlayStation 3. Considering how convoluted the naming convention has become for Xbox I wonder if they regret that now! Great show guys, nice to hear Tony again!

There's an uncomfortable silence at around the 1 hour 50 minute mark that lasts about a minute. Just giving you a heads-up, because I thought it was an issue on my end for a second

Thanks for the heads-up, we’ll get the edit tweaked.

Just dusted off my xbox to lend to my brother to keep him occupied... great timing with the podcast! I was feeling nostalgic as I booted it up to check it was still working. For me Mass Effect trilogy will always be the defining games on this console

Great episode! I also came to report the silence but see its been mentioned already. Interesting when you say on the show that you wonder what would happen now with such big console fault rates what with social media and stuff being so prevalent these days. I'd suggest that the joycon drift is probably the closest we've come to a similar situation in recent years, only unlike MS with the RROD disaster, Nintendo have done a far worse job of rectifying it for customers.

Oops, as you mention on the show! Hadn't got to that bit yet haha.

Loved this episode and loved my 360. I just have been lucky. Only had it red ring once and got a new one sent straight back from Microsoft. Mine was a wonderful gift from my then new girlfriend now wife. Lovely memories.
