Just as the videogame industry began to implode in North America, Milton Bradley set out to try and grab a piece of the pie by buying the rights to the Vectrex console from General Consumer Electronics. Chris, Jesse, Michiel and Dean Swain from the Retro Asylum podcast explore their experiences with the machine as well as the huge roster of 28 games that was released for it. Officially at least. Other topics covered include unofficial mods to the Vectrex, what marks the machine out as being unique, and why it deserves our attention.Console special 11 was edited by Jay Taylor.

This is a console I had heard the name of and little more… hearing about it and checking out some videos online really impressed me. I’ll need to try and get a hands on experience with one at some stage. Fantastic panel on this show as well.

This was great, a really fascinating insight into a console I'd never heard of before. After watching some videos of it in action, I really want to try it for myself. These console specials are always my favourite episodes, I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Agreed with Steven above--this console had somehow passed me by and it was interesting to hear about it. Makes me wonder where we'd be today of games had followed the vector trajectory instead of sprites and polygons...4K's got nothing on INFINITE RESOLUTION, BABY!

Really fun to hear you guys cover something that's niche even by videogame standards. I've briefly played one at a convention in Portland once, but if not for that I wouldn't have had a clue what it was 😄
