I'll make this short and sweet since I have a bag of chocolate covered raisins that need consuming whilst watching the telly.Anyway, here's a whole three hours of us chatting about life, the universe and what it all means to be a sentient being in the year 2022.Not really, but there is a lot of waffle about what we've played, watched and what you fine folks had to say about the various nonsense we make.Oh, here are some rough timestamps below for those that may wish to avoid certain things:1 h 34 m  Obi-Wan chatter2 h 01 m  Stranger Things talk2 h 24 m Comments 'n other stuffThank you all and enjoy!

It’s painting week so I’ve been looking forward to this dropping. Thanks Jay and Leon (and everyone else)

Chris Hayward

The YouTuber is Chris Davis, not Cliff Davis btw! I've been listening to some of his video essays for a while - his CRPG series and Splinter Cell videos are particularly good watches

Luke Scriven

Excellent chat as usual. Leon, as I believe you are/were a Giant Bomb fan, I was wondering if you had any thoughts about Jeff Gerstmann’s surprising departure?

Everything Everywhere All at Once is an incredible experience and it completely blindsided me. I went in expecting to see a wacky but smart time-based comedy, but I didn't expect something that would make me feel that much. Even the stupid hot dog world made me cry. I haven't had a reaction to a film since One Cut of the Dead, and for pretty much the same reason. I hope this film gets the award recognition it deserves.

Great episode, particularly loved the discussion of Everything Everywhere All at Once. I've seen it twice, and at the moment I'd say it's my all time favorite film. It's just so creative and the core message really connected with me.

Sorry this isn't really related to this specific show, but I just wondered - have you had any thoughts about delaying the Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout show to slightly later so it's recorded after the game goes free to play later this month? I expect switching shows around really causes a headache, but you wouldn't have known the F2P release date when the schedule was planned.

Cane and Rinse

It was discussed but it's too complicated to rearrange the schedule at this point.

Alex79

I did suspect it probably would be!

Alex79

Oh yeah of course, I was thinking more in terms of number of players, although I'm sure it's done plenty well on PS+!

Potentially mundane explanation to my love and knowledge of Finnish folklore (in reference to the Control reply about Ahti) - it’s because of my favourite band. They’re from Finland and called Amorphis. They sing in English but for the past thirty years have almost exclusively written lyrics based on stories from the Kalevala. I found the imagery of their songs and cover art really striking and unique and ended up buying the English translation of the Kalevala. If anybody is interested in a very distinct and lively version of a national epic, where things are often resolved through song rather than battle, and self-aggrandising wizards roam the inns in search of a fresh horse, I recommend it. For such a foundational work and something that wasn’t intended to be consumed in writing, I found it really accessible, colourful and often quite funny as well.

3 hours of waffley goodness, what a treat! I love this monthly pod. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

Whilst I'm much more positive on the game than Jay; when he talked about the elemental issue with Horizon Forbidden West I suddenly realised that was why I got frustrated. Maybe my experience was different because I leaned into the improved melee away from bows

Ben

I didn’t feel like my opinion mproved a lot after the last episode of Halo. I’m fine with wanting to tell an alternative story (and yes, McElhone is great in pretty much everything she does), but a lot of the narrative choices they made haven’t worked for me. I’ll probably at least dip my toe into season two to see if they iron out some of the issues.

Paul

Will pay $$$ to hear Jay talk politics on the next monthly 🤣

Thanks for another interesting show. I will use the monthly Patreon podcasts to post general comments and questions. I hope this is fine with you. 1. First of all I wanted to let Leon know that I get the impression that he is a much more relaxed and balanced person than the Leon 10 years ago. At least this is the impression I get from listening to old and new shows. I am listening to the current and old shows each week and thus can hear all your wonderful voices from different times next to each other! As I said the Leon of today sounds all in all like a happier and wiser person I have to say. I hope Leon is as happy today as his lovely voice indicates! 2. I am a relatively new listener and only discovered Cane and Rinse last September and thus listen through the old episodes from issue one onwards. I hope to catch up slowly but surely…. My request: would it be possible to have a page with some biographical information on all Cane and Rinse panelists? I get to know each person by listening to them and it is charming to hear about personal aspects like the fact that Tony seems to be a gardener! Of course no one needs to post a biography and very personal information but getting to know everyone as a game critic would be great as the listener spends a lot of time with the panelists. Best wishes!

So, on the FF7R front - yes there is a "weapon" in the game, and there's even a secret final boss as is tradition in square games that's a blast from the past, to say the least. I'm purposefully being vague as it's probably something cool to discover on your own, if you don't just google it, heh
