Here's where you can contribute your thoughts and opinions for Guacamelee! for potential inclusion in the forthcoming podcast.A friendly reminder that where the feedback for the podcast is concerned, we love it - but keeping it brief is appreciated. We do want to include a breadth of opinions where appropriate, but no-one wants a discussion podcast that’s mostly reading out essays. Better to save yourself time and cut to the chase if you can.

I went into the original Guacamelee almost completely blind on the xbox one in 2014 after buying it on a whim. Such a distinctive game visually, with a great soundtrack and interesting mechanics and progression. A thoroughly enjoyable gaming moment which I hope one day to revisit.

As a fan of Metroidvanias, wrestling, Day of the Dead aesthetics and guacamole this game seems to have been made exactly for me and I'm grateful for it. Guacamelee is a fun little game that pushes all the right buttons in terms of gameplay, charming comedic tone and has a wonderful visual style to boot. The controls are fluid and it was incredibly fun mixing up the styles to rack up massive combos while you do piledrivers on skeletons and headbutt the devil. I've heard complaints about it being too short, but I think the length is perfect for something that's a little lighter and jokey. If you haven't played this game, definitely try it out. If you're like me (and as you're listening to this show, you are) you probably have at least three copies from bundles and giveaways, so stop playing whatever boring shooter is eating your time at the moment and play this instead. Guacamelee's impact on the indie Metroidvania revival is enough to mark it down as one of the better games of the last decade, and the world is better for it.

I think I own every version of this game between my PC and Xbox, and I loved every minute spent on it. This game is on point from art direction to music to controls and level design. If you like metroidvanias and brawlers, just go play it if you haven't already! Drinkbox are in that same category of studios as The Behemoth for me: you never know what they're going to do next, but you know it's going to be interesting at the very least.
