Here's where you can contribute your thoughts and opinions for The Oregon Trail for potential inclusion in the forthcoming podcast.A friendly reminder that where the feedback for the podcast is concerned, we love it - but keeping it brief is appreciated. We do want to include a breadth of opinions where appropriate, but no-one wants a discussion podcast that’s mostly reading out essays. Better to save yourself time and cut to the chase if you can.

Being a child of the 80's in America I have fond memories of playing this game in our school computer lab. I am sure this this will be the case with many other corespondents of a similar demographic. But despite being a game I should be as nostalgic for as Super Mario Brothers, this must be the first time that I have gone back to play the game since then. And I can see why. The game is such a mix of dopamine hits (big chunky full screen graphics and little jingles) and the absolute cruelty of a modern survival Rogue-like. Within 5 minutes of starting down the trail I had already lost 6 oxen and 2 party members and had to restart my run. I can see now why as kids we mostly just slaughtered every living thing inside the hunting mini game. At least it feels like you can win there. Still... as my fingers effortlessly flowed over my keyboard inside its menus, I realized that Oregon Trail had won in the end, its history lessons never stuck with me, but it is incalculable how much it helped me become comfortable with using a computer.
