Ah... Speaking about "The Whole Way" for the most curious of you, I'll say that I'm already making the final scene of the Eposide Four: Digestion. Of course, this is not an end of digestion process, it will continue in intestines in the next and last (fifth) episode, but for now - I'm getting done with the stomach phase. And - you know what... I'm so obsessed!

Probably this would be interesting for you to know that I was learning gastroenterology for years. My friends tell me that I must go work a doctor, but I decided - no. Because if I became a doctor, I wouldn't have time to create these animations:) But knowledge about gastro-intestinal tract is absolutely necessary for a real eating animator, IMO. So... here I will give you a tiny piece of this knowledge.

What you can see on this video is called "antrum systole". This is a slow and soft, but powerful peristalsis wave that rushes the half-digested food further into the duodenum. Of course, this video is real-life, not made by me. But right now - returning to "TWW", I'm fighting for antrum systole to look as much realistic as possible. This is where the prey remains leave the stomach and go further for the final digestion...

Peristaltic Wave in the Gastric Antrum

This endoscopy videoclip shows the peristalsis in the lower part of the stomach, the antrum. Peristalis is a wavelike, constant, rhytmic movement caused by muscular contraction carrying food from the stomach through the pylorus into the duodenum, which is the first part of the small bowel.
