Alright I know I'm replying to this late but I just wanted to say this is actually a super helpful type of feedback And for the heck of it- A fun bit of relevant lore What his friends never understood is Toliath and Melody were dating for awhile before that point, but in secret - Why in secret? To avoid putting a target on Toliath In their culture being a predator is in a way a point of status, a collection of achievements and accomplishments you literally carry with you everywhere you go. In the list of things that make someone more 'appetizing', being in a relationship is near the top You were someone who's life is deeply entangled with someone else's, and yet the woman who ate you still got away with it. (Assuming they're weren't caught in the act and sent to prison, or eaten in revenge) That's the assumption, but of course sometimes spouses/partners themselves eventually become meals for their matriarchs, because being in a relationship is also sometimes a point of status... Yet being 6 times divorced by vore and still having a spouse must mean you're someone of incredible importance. Not everyone is driven by social status, or accomplishment, of course... Melody here is studying to be a nurse, and works part time treating digestion burn survivors. This isn't the first pred she's caught in the act (people who try and grab recovering patients without anyone noticing) Although a successful "patient steal" sounds like it would be a really fun one-off xd
