Life and Death comes with one new venue, the Graveyard. But it also comes with a special neighborhood, which has its own special features I'l l go over.
Note that I've not even played the expansion yet- just read item descriptions and looked at CAS- so there may well be less-easy-to-find-in-the-tuning-than-in-the-game features I miss here.
- GRAVEYARD - (Life and Death)
Cemeteries (as they are called in tuning, not Graveyards) spawn various types of sims:
Ghosts, who haunt objects. There are Day and Night versions, but they are identical.
Cemetery Keepers, who Clean, Garden, Tend Gravesites (the large object ones from the pack), and- if a Coffin is present from the Preorder or Vampires- will take naps in them when tired.
Night cemetery Keepers, who also sleep in coffins, patrol the grounds, and tell group Spooky Stories.
Cemetery Keepers may wear a special outfit on occassion, that I won't spoil.
Loungers, a return of the "Park Sleeper" from base game- sims who sleep in parks in dirty clothing. These are meant to be unhoused sims with nowhere else to go for rest. They used to be pretty offensive but have since been altered (They used to be stinky and "insane").
Mourners, who do various Funeral activities- sweeping graves, pouring one out, reminiscing, weeping. Mourners are specifically sims who are friends of the dead who were NOT invited to a funeral, and only spawn DURING funerals. These are intended to be "background" Sims at the event, I guess? The filter for them says they need a minimum of 25 friendship but don't specify towards who. I'm unclear on if this makes them check the dead, or the player.
Joggers
Vampires get a special Energized buff in Cemeteries
Certain things are disabled here- Frogs cannot be collected from ponds, for example.
I may be reading the tuning wrong...but it looks like you have a higher chance of getting a certain item from seed packets while here.
Funerals can be held here- and Graveyards contain all the items to make them work. It's recommended to build a functional funeral space here.
Clubs can hang out here, and it can be their club-specific hangout spot.
It would appear that various pack interactions are only available during funerals, specifically relating to things with graves and grave-relevant objects. I do not have specifics on this. Funerals do not require a graveyard.
- GRIM HQ - (Life and Death)
No special features besides being a career lot. Sims cannot spawn here who are not relevant to the career.
- THE SPOOKY NEIGHBORHOOD I DONT KNOW THE NAME OF - (Life and Death)
I can't find where this is handled to prove it, but it seems that ghosts (from your save file, existing dead Sims) gather here more often than other worlds. Maybe that was just a lot trait on the existing bar. You know what, that was probably it. I don't see much else unique to the way Ravenwood functions on a core level. I probably misunderstood this. I'm leaving it.
NOTE TO CONTENT CREATORS: I write these posts on my own time, using my own research into mechanics, using my own ability to understand tuning and navigate through it to find what it does, where, and how. If you use this information for any purposes, such as making videos about game mechanics, please, please, please, credit me and link to these posts as the source. I know for a fact content already exists where I am the source and not credited.
