Simocoin Consequences (Patreon)

Simocoin is a bitcoin mining interaction available with a Small Business perk. It takes 8 hours of running your computer to get money- 100 minimum, and around 3000 maximum, averaging in the low 1000s.

The description states that you need to watch your power usage, referencing how much power it takes to mine bitcoin. But the power usage for this interaction is simply 8 hours worth of the computer being on, which...isn't a lot. Even if you were doing it on 10 computers at once, like in real life, it's still not a lot. My bills went from 80 simoleons to 90 simoleons from one mine...which, obviously, a 10 simoleon bill increase doesn't mean anything if the worst you can get is 100 simoleons.

This mod makes Simocoin mining, at the end, add a random amount of power utility usage to your bills. It has about a 23% chance of being a couple hundred simoleons, a 23% chance of being significantly more, and a few small chances of a few other values in between or lower.

Additionally, cancelling Simocoin Mining to get use of your computer back will cost a small burst of power too.

Because both values are random, sometimes you'll win out and sometimes your victory will be diminished. In these examples, I earned 700, 30, and 170 simoleons respectively. But it was entirely possible I could've gotten 2500 Simoleons at a cost of 121, or 101 simoleons at a cost of 420. It's a gamble, and it should be! Try running multiple computers doing mining at once and see what you get. (Note that it costs 100 Simoleons to even start mining, so the failures are truly failures now instead of "Oh no, I only made 250 Simoleons and it cost me 110!".)

Pay attention to your bill increases when mining...don't spend that money too fast or you might be short on the bills!
