1. It is exponentially harder to create set dressing than it is to create new lots. The pipeline for creating a new lot is, I guarantee you, essentially just setting some coordinates. Source: Modders who have edited lots. Modders who have added lots. Modders who have removed lots. It's a process for modders, but the devs- 11 years in, certainly- have internal tools that make defining "a rectangle on the map where a lot is"...which is a fundamental system of how the game works...very, very easy for them to do.

2. Making art does NOT take less work and thought than placing lots down. I don't know where to even begin with this level of dumbassery but please understand it's unfathomably idiotic and disrespectful to the people making the game's tens of thousands of art assets, let alone the people designing entire maps for the game.

3. TWO DIMENSIONAL MAPS HAVING "SPACE" ON THEM DOES NOT INDICATE ANYTHING ABOUT THE ACTUAL VIABILITY OF UTILIZING THAT SPACE IN THE 3D WORLD. THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. SOME OF YOU PEOPLE WOULD FAIL A PIAGET CONSERVATION TEST DESIGNED TO SHOW THE LACK OF CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AFFORDED TO TODDLERS, AND IT SHOWS.

FACTS. There are some frustrations I agree with the larger community on, but the constant bashing of designs and features without any substance to back those complaints up is honestly starting to annoy me as well. Some players seem to not only be predisposed to being unsatisfied, they actually make a conscious decision in advance that they will be, no matter what.

Designerchoices can't always be my taste, that's fine. But I do feel with how bigger the world feels, it also feels empty with shells, no sims walking around and if that is causing by copying an open world system that every one demanded, I feel that it is the wrong choice made. The Sims 4 isn't open world to begin with, you can make the house feel bigger but if the foundation is lacking it isn't supported enough and the house isn't better at all. I prefer the old neighbourhoods like Willow Creek that has more limitations size wise but uses the space you get because it is filled with things to do, sims to meet, places you can go in to (yes, with loading screens but I prefer that over the feel of nothing there). And why, for example if I want to visit the carnival (where knowone is because the world is so big), I have to load in to a lot that is so far out of where I want to go to. Make those rabbithole locations a marker where you can travel to. That's my rant and two cents :-D
