holy fuckin' moly you guys

You can read a less unhinged version of this information here.

I just learned that when you recover from an Ailment, if you're still majorly imbalanced, you are guaranteed to get another ailment after the "Imbalanced and Exposed" moodlet (which you get when your Ailment resolves while you still have major imbalance), if you're still majorly imbalanced when it ends. Of course, this does NOT check for the Ailment Cooldown that this mod increased to 3 days...because it would render that entire system of "You're still really imbalanced, have another ailment!" pointless.

That's just too much.

So in this update, I Removed the guaranteed ailment after losing an ailment entirely. It simply will not happen. You'll still get an uncomfortable buff declaring you're still at risk of ailments, but it's now a warning you're still majorly imbalanced. It's a stupid system. It's gone now.

I also made it so when you recover from an ailment, you recover significantly more balance, so you probably wont' be majorly imbalanced after recovery in the first place. Maybe regular imbalanced. But not major. We're done playing this game. This back and forth is stupid.

I also increased the hidden cooldown to a week. Fuck it. This does mean the "Imbalanced and Exposed" moodlet is technically pointless, since you can't get another Ailment anyway for another week, but I don't care. Ailments and Balance are cool but the back and forth here was really confusing to figure out and driving me nuts. You don't need more than one of these things a week.

Here's the 3 Day Ailment Cooldown update, now 7 Day Ailment Cooldown.

BUT THAT'S! NOT! ALL!

THERE'S ACTUALLY A MAJOR EA OVERSIGHT THAT I'VE RELEASED A FIX FOR.

This may not make any sense if you're not a modder. What you're seeing is what the Balance stat "does" when it hits certain points. When it "enters" the -100 value, it removes minor effects. When it "enters" the -35 value, it removes major effects. It...removes major effects when your Balance LOWERS to -35 and when it RAISES ABOVE -35? That's...weird. What does that do?

...Oh. It...what. It...

Yall. When it enters -35 levels, whether the number is going UP or going DOWN, it "removes major effects"...which... removes the cooldown buff. That means when you're Majorly Imbalanced and become regular Imbalanced?

THE COOLDOWN MEANT TO PROTECT YOU FROM MORE AILMENTS IS REMOVED.

So after you recover and get that cooldown? IT'S FRICKIN' REMOVED WHEN YOU RECOVER YOUR BALANCE! EA?!??! WHAT ARE YOU DOING

EVEN WORSE, check this out...these are all the tunings that make this happen. Yep, when the game tries to give you an ailment from incubation due to contact? It forcibly removes this cooldown. When the game rolls that you should get an ailment? It forcibly removes this cooldown. BABE WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE COOLDOWN IF YOU RIP IT AWAY WHEN YOU WANT TO ADD AN AILMENT? The cooldown is meant to PREVENT ailments! What are you DOING!

AND! EVEN! WORSE! "loot_balancesys_choosemajoreffect" happens EVERY TIME you become majorly imbalanced and get the buff it adds. So the act of entering major imbalance will ALWAYS try to give you an Ailment, EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE DAMN COOLDOWN. I'm so mad, I have no idea what they were thinking. I guess they wanted to ensure that Ailments ALWAYS happened if you were SUPER MEGA having a bad time, but it completely destroys the point of having a cooldown at all if it's ignored!

So now I've also released "Ailment MAJOR Cooldown Fix" which changes this so that this does NOTHING.

It alters loot_balancesys_removemajoreffects so that it does NOTHING.

It alters loot_balancesys_choosemajoreffect so that it CANNOT DO ANYTHING if you have the hidden Ailment cooldown.

HOPEFULLY...this solves all the problems with Ailments being weird. It should. Barring any weirdness.

Testing Process: Sim has Ailment Cooldown buff manually removed. Sim is set to -100 Balance. Sim thus gets an Ailment. Sim has Ailment removed. I check to see if they received the Cooldown buff. They did. I set their Balance above -35 and check again. They still have the cooldown. I set it to -100. They still have the cooldown, and do not receive another AIlment.

Holy crap. What a mess.

Oh my goodness gracious. So that's why Sims kept getting ailment after ailment after ailment, completely ignoring the cooldown. Thank you for investigating this and solving it.
