For some reason, The Sims Direct tweeted this.

"Mod creators, We have shared the TDESC file for you in The Sims Discord today, to allow you to update your mods ahead of Thursday's base game update:"

TDESCs are basically...explanations of what a tuning is. Tuning Descriptions, quite literally (T-DESC).

These are TDESCs. They explain what certain aspects of tuning do and give specifics when relevant for understanding their usage.

They do not facilitate the updating of mods.

Unless an existing TDESC is modified, and that information is necessary to update mods that already use that type of tuning in them, having the TDESCs available is full stop not enough to update mods. Even then, it's basically nothing to us without any actual new tuning changes showing us what needs altering.

Mods require information about actual tuning.

If EA Changed how, say, career statistic tuning works, modders might be able to go into their careers and EA career overrides and make an adjustment to that. (But probably not.)

If EA changed the actual career tuning that uses career statistics, we don't have that information, and cannot update mods for it.

Make sense? Without information on actual tuning changes, which we don't get until the patch comes out and we can dig into the patch to actually see what actually changed, mods WILL NOT be updated for new content, updated to include new content, updated to account for changes to existing content, updated to fix overrides for content EA has adjusted, etc.

MODDERS. WILL NOT. HAVE THEIR MODS. UPDATED. BEFORE THIS PATCH.

It was really irresponsible of The Sims Direct to phrase this tweet this way- let alone make it at all, to the general public who has no idea what they're talking about.

Also, the patch is out in two days...Even if we were given all the required files right this second, at 5pm on a tuesday, uh...that would mean we'd have tonight, tomorrow after work, and...well, that's it .That's all the time we'd have to update mods, and that's probably not enough time to get mods updated anyway, so they REALLY should not have tweeted this.

This feels intentionally irresponsible.

You are absolutely right! 👏 The Sims Direct was ridiculous for phrasing it that way, especially since most players don’t realize how much actual work mod creators put into this. Honestly, I only play The Sims 4 because of mod creators – without mods the game feels empty and boring, and I probably wouldn’t even touch it. So thank you for everything you all do! 💜
