Death By Flies from The Sims 2 returns!

Well, it returned in Eco Lifestyle. But only if you were playing with dumpsters a lot, and only if you ignored warnings, and only if you were really trying to die by flies.

Now, Death by Flies can happen anywhere- as long as it's dirty enough

How does it work?

Every couple hours, the game will check how many of a certain type of item there are on the lot. This includes trash piles, pet poop, manure piles, laundry piles, leaf piles, burnt furniture, scratched furniture, and even plates of food- spoiled or not. This does not include things like dirty toilets, counters, etc. Only physical stinky objects lying around in the game world.

If there's a lot of these items on the lot, your sim will have a chance of being marked for potential fly death. 2 hours later, the game will check again...is this place still dirty? And if it is, your sim...well, might be attacked by a swarm of flies.

But it's not that simple:

Depending on your sim's traits, buffs, and hygiene, they have a higher or a lower chance of even getting marked for death in the first place. And when the flies decide to swarm, they're more likely to swarm someone stinky and less likely to care about someone clean!

The following sims are more at risk of being targeted: Sims who are Neat, Proper, Squeamish, Snobs, or Maids. Sims who are Grungy. Sims who recently used dirty furniture. Sims who have recently peed themself, or are near a dirty diaper! Sims in dusty environments are also more at risk.

The following sims are less at risk of being targeted: Sims who are Lazy, Erratic, or Freegans.

The following sims cannot be targeted at all: Sims who are Slobs, or have the Antiseptic reward trait.

And when the flies come, they won't care to target you if your Hygiene is nearly full, but the lower it gets, the less immunity you have.

Also note that if you are playing on a Landfill Lot or a Grody Lot, the required number of dirty items is quite a bit higher, almost double. This is because these lots are meant to be dirty.

How can I stop the flies?!

If the test comes around again and a number of items have been cleaned up, you'll lose the buff marking you for death until your lot fails another test. This isn't a binary pass/fail, however- if you just barely had a dirty enough lot to get marked, cleaning just 3 or 4 items up won't make it clean enough to be safe. Get scrubbing! (Disclaimer: Dirty items do not actually count towards any of this, scrubbing will not save you. PICK UP THE TRASH!)

This mod is in testing. It works! But the balance might be a little off. It takes a lot of serious playing and testing to figure out things like balance. Install this mod IF YOU ARE WILLING TO ACCEPT THAT YOUR SIMS MIGHT DIE OF FLIES, and that it MIGHT SEEM LIKE IT HAPPENED TOO EASILY. This is for feedback purposes!

The final version of the mod will come in a flavor with and without a warning buff. This test version DOES have a warning buff: If your sim is at risk of potential fly death within the next 2 hours, you WILL see the "Beelzebuzz" moodlet in the moodlet panel.

UPDATE: Fixed duplicate buff error
UPDATE: Added For Rent Mold Piles to the list of "Dirty" objects, and removed Puddles.

Love this! I kept forgetting that this was back in game because I keep forgetting about the trash cans. We need a bit more risk in game and this is perfect. Thank you!
