Secret Limitations (Patreon)

This mod makes the Secrets from For Rent more logically applied to sims. Pairs well with Blackmail Overhaul.

While there is no limit to the number of secrets any given sim can have found about them, there's also no limit to WHICH secrets can be found about them. One of the secrets is about finding a sad puppy and literally just leaving it there in the rain. Obviously, Dog Lovers and Animal Enthusiasts won't have this secret, right?

Ha, no, wrong. They put absolutely no limitations on secrets.

There's one about basically being polyamorous. Loyal sims don't get that one, right?

HA, no, wrong. There also aren't higher or lower chances for any given secret to show up on a sim.

So this mod makes some secrets never show up for certain traits and other secrets more likely for certain traits, or both. Some of these even take likes/dislikes into account, when logical and when I remembered they exist.

Snooping is a small, weird little feature, so I didn't put a TON of thought into these, but it's a nice tweak I think. Not every secret got limitations added as many didn't really need them and were very generic, but those that ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT show up on a certain trait got locked.

For a majority of secrets, a majority of sims will still be able to get them. But for a good handful they're far more likely to show up for certain sims, and it'll just feel BETTER if you get a secret or two from any given sim. If you're grinding them all out on one sim, well, you don't really care enough to need this mod lol

These are VERY minor changes and you'll barely notice them- don't expect this to make the overall secrets feature much better. For that, see Blackmail Overhaul.

(In one instance, a secret was entirely disabled, as it was entirely Tomarang-childhood specific, and making tests to make sure the sim even LIVED in Tomarang was too much work, so I said screw this)
