Comfort Motive- EARLY TESTING (Patreon)
Content
This is NOT Early Access. The purpose of this upload is for TESTING purposes. I know there's a fine line between Early Access and Testing and it's a strange one to toe, especially as someone who actively hates long Early Access periods. Other modders have long, sometimes years long, tester periods. This will be a few weeks at most.
I am SURE that I have missed things. I am SURE that I have not finished things. I am SURE that it needs a good amount of work and polish. But the core functionality is here, and everything else is mostly extraneous, and I need some extra eyes on it to take some of the workload off. I know it's weird to pay for that privilege but it's the only way to be sure people are downloading expressly to help, and not just because they "want it early".
I must stress that I do not consider this mod in a state to release as early access, please understand it's not meant to be early access or double dipping when it goes early access once it's finished- You are not obligated to pay for this, download it, or even help me with it. It's a privilege for those who already support me. I fully expect to finish it by myself, and will be thrilled if i get ANY feedback and notes.
You are free to download this if you simply want to play with it, but the entire point is to get legitimate feedback.
Please, please, PLEASE provide meaningful feedback if you download this. I want to see comments!
What I need:
1. Feedback on the rate of decay of this motive. This is a hidden motive so it can be hard to tell how fast it's dropping or how often you're filling it. But if it seems too fast or slow, let me know what you think.
2. Feedback on interactions. This motive BLOCKS INTERACTIONS when particularly low. You'll see a tooltip on blocked interactions. The list of blocked interactions is enormous. It is absolutely massive. It covers almost everything I could think of that counts as "productive behavior" and many things that don't. It blocks laundry. It blocks snowboarding. It blocks hiking. It blocks fishing. It blocks digging. It blocks gardening. It blocks basically anything your sim does while standing that produces a favorable result. I need testers to be on the lookout, when their sim's feet hurt (indicated by glowing red feet), for interactions that SEEM like they should be blocked but are not, and report to me the exact interaction.
The cheat " interactions.show_interaction_tuning_name " can be used to show the exact name of interactions if you want to be very super nice to me and let me know the exact tuning name.
Otherwise, the mod is mostly in a fully usable state.
To Do:
-Create a distress interaction. When the motive reaches a failure point the Sim will sit down immediately. This is not super punishing and I don't want to interrupt certain things but I do want it to happen.
-Create custom icons for buffs, as I'm using some placeholders.
-Rewrite some of the text to be more neutral. By that I mean the buffs reference "feet hurting" a lot and they don't make a lot of sense when they play in reverse (from worst to best, instead of best to worst).
-Add a few more things to the "comfort increasing" interaction list.
-Create optional addon that applies these limitations to NORMAL extreme uncomfortable buffs, not given by low comfort motive.
Now that that's out of the way, the basics are as follows. This is not a full write up, that'll be saved for release.
-All sims Teen and Up get the Comfort motive added.
-When Comfort reaches a certain threshold, they get an Uncomfortable +1 buff. At lower thresholds, it is followed by a +2 and a +3 buff.
-When sims have the +3 buff, they refuse to do a number of interactions, some critical to their lives. They will not take standing showers. They will not cook. They can order food and take a bath or lounge in the kiddie pool, instead.
-When sims have the +3 buff, they cannot be particularly productive. Crafting is out of the question. Collecting is out of the question. Physical activity is out of the question. Do something sitting down.
-When sims are sitting, relaxing, sleeping, or meditating, they will refill their comfort motive. MOST BUT NOT ALL sitting interactions count for this. If you're in a chair or on a couch or on a barstool, you're good. On a piano, maybe not. I tried as hard as I could to cover my bases here. You won't be in a situation where you're not able to fill the motive, though. Some things are goofy here- ALL meditation interactions count towards comfort increasing, so that includes teleporting from high wellness skill. This is harmless and, honestly, makes sense.
-There are two reward traits to diminish and prevent comfort decay. I'd rather you didn't use these if your goal is to help me test.
If you're ready and willing to help contribute to finally finishing off this mod, you can download it here if you're in the early access tier or above. PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!!
