Over the years, the story of the making of Star Wars was told though a very specific lens via official sources. George Lucas has changed his tune about how he constructed the overall story several times as well. Some might call this "revisionist history", but GL claims he always had a specific plan for the Saga. However, in reality, that plan has evolved and changed course many times. To get a full understanding of the story, we always recommend Michael Kaminski's unauthorized book "The Secret History of Star Wars". RFR V.I.P. Brian Brinsfield took us up on the suggestion! Join us as we look at the book and discuss certain highlights. Plus, we get to know Brian a little bit as he makes his Q&A debut, a little sports and Chicago talk, fandom, mustaches, Nashville and more!

Nice Q&A debut Brian! I really enjoy going back to old RFR episodes and listening to the first reactions everyone has about a movie or show and how those initial thoughts can evolve over time. I’ve definitely always been on the “rockin’ out till the end” plan. Question authority, fight the empire, always a Rebel till the end!🤘🏄‍♀️🌊🌴🦩🎸🍻

Question about the book…Does the printed book have pictures that I’ll be missing out on if I get the audiobook? I’ve noticed that happens sometimes with nonfiction on Audible. Thanks, and great Q&A guys!

Rebel Force Radio

No pix in Secret History of SW, but JRT paints vivid mental imagery with his amazing impersonations whenever quoting the cast and crew. His Lucas is one of the best ever but he throws out some other great vocal mimicry throughout the whole thing. Coppola, Spielberg, Hamill, you name it. Great SW audio entertainment and history.

Great convo Brian! Always great to hear new voices on the Q&A.

Hi Jimmy, "Vader" literally means father in Dutch, not German. As a kid I thought it was funny and thought it was on purpose. Nice episode!

Brian Brinsfield

Jimmy thank you! It was such a fun time. All, thank you. I’m so happy to be here. The book is really great!!! Yall will enjoy it. I was able to snag a copy of Readfive’s, Kenner SW action figure book last week. Can’t wait to get it.

Kyle Burress

Great first time Q&A Brian! Definitely looking forward to hearing more from you!

Great Q&A debut, Brian! I love your “on the fly” -favorite-scene questionnaire. I also played Donnie & Marie in the backyard after each episode, Jimmy. Those purple jumpsuits were super fly!

Peter Beisser

Brian, welcome! Another Q&A peer that's bringing it! Enjoyed the chat with JMac. Look forward to hearing your conversations in the future.

A wonderful Q&A! Thank you, Brian for bringing your perspectives as well as your fandom to this episode! A terrific breakdown of a fabulous book. I love the question about favorite scenes from Star Wars movies. Looking forward to future episodes. “ we will watch your career with great interest!”

Loved the Nashville talk! I’m out here for the summer working an internship. It was cool to hear about all the places I’ve been! ESPECIALLY Edley’s BBQ

Brian, I can’t believe this was your first Q and A. Great job!! I really liked what you had to say about J and J. Jimmy, I played DE / TE in high school too. I went to a very small school and was in band, choir, jazz band, swing choir, football, basketball and track. Was an awesome experience. Looks like I need to get the Secret History of Star Wars. The Jedi lightsaber battle was always one of my favorites based on the lighting, dark clothing and lightsabers. Also, the music is great too.
