Can’t wait to listen. Tanya #1!

Turtle Wars

It’s a hectic travel day for me, but looking forward to listening as soon as I can!

Eddie Baker

Only partially listened so far but already one of my favorite Q&As ever!

Peter Beisser

Loved the Q&A, Tanya! After a decade of going to New York Comic Con, the wife and I finally got out to SDCC in 2022. An epic con. Went to a fan dinner with DC's Jim Lee one night while the wife hit up the "Lord of the Rings" Amazon party and met the cast. Can't match that one. So, we're one and done. But, it's awesome--and worth it if you can do it, all. Jealous you live right there. Always enjoy listening to your adventures, T. You're one of the best in the RFR community and look forward to the Q&As to come.

Tanya S

You’ve earned the “got into an after party” badge! 🌟 Thank you for your kind words, Peter. I was at that Con in ‘22! I went to The Rings of Power panel in Hall H, hosted by the one and only Stephen Colbert. He’s a huge Tolkien fan and even reads/speaks Elvish. I’m glad you had a great time!

Keir Newton

Another great episode Tanya! And as a fellow SD VIP, I’m hanging for the next CA based event too!

Cameron Gore

"5 hour, no energy" almost made me spit my coffe out. Well done!

Ben P. Stein

Awesome episode! I felt like I was at San Diego Comic Con with all the cool pictures and descriptions. Tanya, you may be one of the funniest VIPs with your great sense of humor! I'm going to see if any of my friends have the ESB initials (and actually it's possible someone out there might have ROTJ, if they have a compound last name starting with "O'Toole" or something like that!) Thanks for the tip on the D&D stamps--I have preordered my set. And I appreciate the mention--it would be great to hear more about your experiences in Japan sometime.

Matt Rashid

Loved the show, Tanya! Especially the D&D and LOTR talk!

Tyler Page

Thanks for the trivia! Loved the insights into SDCC!

Joe Dallas

Great show Tanya! That gold leaf cup was really cool. Have a great start of the school year!

Brian Robinson

Go Tanya! Up The Irons! I already have my ticket to see them again in November. Looking forward to hearing all the Somewhere in Time stuff live. "Stranger in a Strange Land" is my all time favorite Iron Maiden song. Great recap of SDCC!

Tanya S

Their shows really are incredible. My favorite is “Number of the Beast.” I even have a pair of Vans based on the album cover. Glad you enjoyed the Q&A! 🤘🏼

Tanya S

Joe Dallas! Thank you for listening and I hope you have a great start of the school year too! This summer really flew by. Cheers!

Tanya S

I'm glad you enjoyed the show, Tyler. That book is chock full of "weird" SW facts. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Tanya S

Thank you for listening, Ben! Now I have to go through my student roll sheets and look for names with SW initialisms. Gonna pick up my D&D stamps today. Have a great weekend...kampai!

Tanya S

Thanks, Keir! Were you able to make it out to the Con this year? Fingers crossed for a west coast meet-up. Cheers!

Luke

Great show! RFR San Diego hang out 2025?!

Eric from Phoenix

My better half started a new teaching job and first day with the kids was today. Great thing is she gets two weeks for fall break, 2.5 weeks for Christmas and two weeks for spring break. Lots of nice breaks throughout the year make starting in late July / early August worth it.

Brian Walters

Hey, Tanya. I’m Blake’s dad. Was listening to the Q/A on my way into work this morning and about ran off the road when you mentioned Blake. Incredibly kind of you. I’m worried Blake would complete his Sith training by using the Kylo/Han method if he learned I didn’t reach out. I will play this for him this evening and he will totally flip. Since we met Ray Park at a Con in June he has had a big focus on collecting Darth Maul. Thank you for always being so encouraging to him in the chat!

Turtle Wars

Sounds like you had a great time Tanya! Your Q&As are always lively and informative. Thank you so much for picking up the GG jumbo Offworld Jawa for me! And wonderful that you were even able to get it signed, as well as scoring the Hallmark ornament you wanted. I am also very envious of that droid art that you picked up. Droids are one of my favorite things about Star Wars, and that print is really cool. I definitely would have purchased that too. Some great Metal finds too. Wasted Years, Number of the Beast, and The Trooper are probably my favorite Maiden songs. Looking forward to Steve Sansweet being back on the show. Can’t wait to hear about plans for the future of ROW. And of course a potential RFR get together would be awesome. Sounds like we have a few weeks of great flagship show interviews coming up.

zillobeast

Looking forward to this about to start. San Diego is like the holy grail of comic cons I feel.

Tanya S

You’re welcome, Brian. Anything for Blake! Can you get in touch with JMac so he can forward your mailing info to me? Enjoy the dark side life!

Tanya S

I can’t wait for you to see your Jawa! Currently looking for a shipping box that will fit the dimensions of the package. Yes, this Con was full of surprises, especially the Iron Maiden and Motörhead books. Envious of Eric from Phoenix for his Turtle Wars hangs! Glad you had a good time in AZ and I’m looking forward to a ROW meetup soon. 🖤🐢

Brian Walters

Lol, I had him watching the full show video to see all the cool stuff from SDCC. He was floored. “I’m getting something!?! What!?? I’m getting that!? Yeah!!”. I will contact Jimmy. Thanks again!

zillobeast

Brill I feel I said the same the last time you did some sort of classroom q and a The USA schooling system is in safe hands with you and Joe Dallas. 2 complete natural people. No one can ever get a more enjoyable laugh than Joe but it’s just a lovely conversation to listen to. Brill Cheers

Tanya S

I forgot to mention that I actually bought comic books at SDCC!! ✊🏼

Scott St. Louis

Awesome show Tanya! Thanks for bringing us along to SDCC. No fans left behind! Great throwback Thursday for me with the Maiden callbacks too! You brought me back to 1985! You bring so much to Q&A! And Captain Fantastic is in JMac’s house!?!? This episode has everything!

Kyle Burress

Great Q&A Tanya! It definitely sounds like your summer vacation has been fun and fulfilling! I look forward to your next one!

Tanya S

I had so much fun with the Q&A! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Scott! 🍻

Todd “Suds” Sedlacek

Tanya, great job on the Q&A once again!! Loved the SDCC wrap up and super happy you had a great time. Teachers like yourself deserve times like that. I’ll keep on JMac to get the Rancho meet up running 😎

One answer and a few questions The LEGO dark falcon is from an upcoming show called “rebuild the galaxy” the trailer is out on line. Re the gas lamps you mention After uni we travelled and spent a bunch of time on west coast USA. One of the locations we spent a bit of time at seemed to be like out of Victorian England. There were like smoky jazz bars it was beautiful city. When I tell people I call it San Jose? Is it in fact San Diego? Or does everywhere have a gas light district. Last question but I’ll leave it here rather than the other thread but I hear regularly the term “cw” used. It doesn’t seem to have any relevance to clone wars. What am I missing? I think Jimmy said it to Kyle Newman in yesterday’s cracking episode. Cheers

Tanya S

So Darth Jar Jar will be in the upcoming Lego special? Sounds like you were in San Diego from your description of the Gaslamp District. When I was a kid, the neighborhood was generally an area that sailors frequented because of its high concentration of porn theaters. I distinctly remember driving by “The Pussy Cat Theatre,” triple XXX rated on 5th Ave, with my family, on our way to the Old Spaghetti Factory. The city renovated the area in the 1980’s and now it’s a hot spot for many tourists. I haven’t listened to Kyle’s episode yet but I’m guessing “CW” refers to the television broadcast company out here. Glad you enjoyed the episode! Cheers! 🍻

zillobeast

Yup that’s how I see it, I think they revealed the trailer on May 4th from memory. The set will be a top seller the white Vader and darth jar jar look lovely. Yup makes sense re the gas light district did some googling after posting as just can’t remember was circa 2000. If only we had iPhones back then! Think I took about 24 pictures in 3 mths of travelling! Cheers

Eric from Phoenix

Great discussion. I felt like I had been to SDCC. It’s on our list and so easy for us to drive over but we just haven’t got organized enough to get tickets / hotel. Waiting in line for a chance to buy something isn’t fun. I liked how Celebration went to the lottery system in advance of the event so you know if you were going to get it or not (2019). Don’t have to waste the time. I loved That’s Incredible and this was probably the first time I thought of that show since it went off the air. I caught the Dark Maul slip Tanya :). My oldest thought that was Darth Maul’s actual name. Can’t remember how long he did that but a fun memory. My gosh, a Rancho Obiwan RFR event would be a blast. We would love to attend that!

Tanya S

You should definitely get that SDCC trip under your belt! It’s quite an experience. Thanks for listening, Eric!!

Joel Lackey

Tanya, you make a great host and should do it more often. The hand full of Q&As you’ve done have been a lot of fun…great episode.

Daniel Hunt

Hello from a fellow San Diegan! Tanya, your episode was great. I was actually in downtown San Diego next to the convention center when you were talking about comicon. I can’t wait for one of your Q&A.
