I loved Kyle's review of Ahsoka, I can't wait to listen to what he has to say about the Acolyte !

Matt Motter

I vote Kyle to Direct a Star Wars movie with Jason & Jimmy as Producers…then we’ll have balance in the Force. Great podcast! Loved the conversation! Thanks to all you guys!

Marc Richard

Such a great acolyte discussion! Thanks Kyle Jimmy and Jason! Disney needs to hear this!

Kyle Burress

Great listening! It was great hearing Kyle's take on everything!

Eric from Phoenix

Looking forward to hearing Kyle’s takes on the Acolyte.

Thank you guys for bringing us another quality show. Kyle always helps me understand what Star Wars IS, and why a show may misfire. Your ESB commentary with him and Paul from 2010 is still on of my favorite RFR/ForceCast memories! (And it is an F-ing amazing commentary)

Ben P. Stein

I agreed with a lot of Kyle's takes on The Acolyte--he has such an interesting and unique perspective on Star Wars--but I disagree that the show was devoid of love. Sol's love for Osha and Mother Aniseya's love for Osha --to the point that she was going to let her leave and join the Jedi--were strong examples at least for me. However, I do agree that much of the show was devoid of love and felt cold at times. Jimmy, thanks for the kind mention of our recent Q&A episode and it's always an honor to be mentioned alongside Tanya and the other VIPs. And last but not least, I liked Steel Wheels! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it was produced by Matt Clifford, who produced the Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe album, one of my faves :-).

Chris Hansford

Jimmy Mac is a radio guy, audio first. Maybe it’s just an afterthought? I prefer Watching all the content these days.

CineWars

I'm holding out for the video version.

Mark

Can no one in the industry ask Kyle to submit a treatment for a new Star Wars project? Such a great discussion, and for me, really got to the heart of some of the issues I had with the Acolyte. Superlative podcasting RFR. MTFBWY…always!

Gareth Williams

Great, and very balanced, analysis from Kyle. All the talk of cover bands and the Stones reminded me of a song by the band Pulp called 'Bad Cover Version'. It's actually about those people who break up with someone they love then immediatley start dating someone who looks exactly the same - hoping to reproduce the magic. But it also sums up the post-Lucas Star Wars for me. Lyrics for the last verse.... "It's like a later "Tom & Jerry"; when the two of them could talk Like the Stones since the Eighties. Like the last days of Southfork. Like "Planet of the Apes" on TV. The second side of "'Til the Band Comes In". Like an own-brand box of cornflakes. He's going to let you down my friend." A bad cover version of love, is not the real thing.

Rebel Force Radio

Theres been a delay with the video due to an issue with the file. We are trying to fix it but it might not be possible. Look for an update soon.

I wonder if FJ or Kyle are hired by LFL to be new show runners or directors to their own films or TV series. Would Jimmy or Jason will be more or less critical to their friends projects.🤔

Paul Gaines

Here the biggest problem I have with all this new SW content. We get told- “stick with what is onscreen, just comment on the story.” Why? Why am I told I can only comment on what is onscreen when the showrunners themselves go on months long media tours saying all the subtle and not so subtle messaging they inserted in the show? It’s all there on screen.. why can’t I say, “I don’t like the show because of the crap the show runners TOLD ME they put in the show. I don’t get why the viewer gets rules imposed on them as to what we can have an opinion on. The show runners agenda affected the product. Being unable to comment on it is what allows this type of product to currently proliferate everything.

Eric from Phoenix

Nope. They’ve been critical of Dave’s stuff and they were fairly close with him during the Clone Wars period.

Eric from Phoenix

Hearing Jason bust a gut about the missing high five made my day. Not much to say but “”what Kyle said” relative to The Acolyte. Great discussion and Jimmy nailed the political motivation of Lucasfilm which is frustrating. Just make good Star Wars.

Aaron S

I took Mae not allowed to use a weapon, was not to use a lightsaber.

Paul Gaines

Ok, Rules seems harsh. But it feels like a lot of content producers who don’t want to comment on the background politics that are involved in the creation of the show disparage those who are calling a spade a spade. That sentiment seemed to even come across from RFR in the early after shows of Acolyte. Ultimately, Jimmy gave way to venting out the frustration that came from the show runners hitting you over the head CONSTANTLY with the agenda-based process that went into this shows creation. Honestly, I laud you guys for trying to avoid it. But the activism, agenda and politics are so dang obviously there (based on what our eyes can plainly see, AND what they tell us), it’s hard to avoid having it color our opinion of the end product, nevemind that even without those elements, the product is sub par.

Paul Gaines

I think Sol’s love was villainized in the show. And the Mothers love felt undeveloped. So I think the characterization that the show was devoid of love still rings true. The hate and negativity was what was emphasized, and used as a means to create sympathy for various characters, unconvincingly.

Ben P. Stein

Great points and I agree with a lot of what you say. I believe the show failed in having us fully empathize with the Sith perspective relative to the Jedi Order. I maintain that it wasn’t fully devoid of love. I believe Sol loved Osha and longed for a student but it backfired because of the requirements of the Jedi order, discouraging attachment and demanding adherence to its rigid rules. And the mother’s love was underdeveloped but it was there. Still I largely agree with what you write.

GaryK from England

Great episode guys! I completely agree with Kyle’s take on what was missing from ‘The Acolyte’ and what should have been done to make it a worthy part of the incredible galaxy that George Lucas created. Thanks for the great Acolyte After Shows too, as they convinced me to purchase the brilliant Darth Plagueis audiobook! May the force be with you.

Blake Weaver

Thank god Kyle sounded off. I’m done with these horrible Star Wars shows being given a pass just cause it’s Star Wars. I love hearing people who really understand storytelling at a level I’ll never know feel the way I feel and voice it. I hope Skeleton Crew has a magic to it that adult shows like stranger things has brings. I’m willing to give this one a shot with no bias.

Dr Jz

Solid show man! Well said! 🤌

Sean W. from Warsaw

Coming to this one late. It's the first RFR I've heard in several months. When I saw Newman back, I had to take a listen. Thanks so much for the great convo! It helped me to process through a lot of stuff and clear my head a bit on the state of SW and where things are going, course corrections needed, and all that. It's a frustrating time to be a fan.... But conversations like this help keep my head above water! It's why RFR remains the best! Keep it up, gents. Hoping to be able to listen again soon!
