THE RFR EARLY BIRD delivers! Patreon supporters get the show FIRST!

The biggest Disney fan event of the year happened last week in Anaheim at D23, and STAR WARS was featured. A new trailer for the upcoming SKELETON CREW with Jude Law debuted, and this week on RFR, we breakdown the footage and speculate on the show itself. Plus, we also look ahead to THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU courtesy of new comments from director Jon Favreau. You've heard us talking about "The Star Wars Radio Dramas" from John and Maria Jose Tenuto, who join us In The Cantina to discuss their new book, now available everywhere. Plus, how did Darth Vader deal with the death of Padme after he fully sold his soul to the Darkside? We provide our two cents thanks to listener feedback about the topic.

I dig the early access

Great episode, guys! I mostly agree with you guys that SW creatives sometimes are inspired by outside influences too often and not SW. Where I disagree is that I think it's totally acceptable to have other influences, so long as the key ingredients are met. Dave Filoni is heavily influenced by outside influences, but I think he understands the SW "melting pot".

I sometimes have a hard time with Padme’s death too. Dying of a broken heart isn’t my favorite story beat. BUT I’m a huge Tolkien fan, and in that world Elves are immortal and can only die if they are killed in action OR of a broken heart, which really only happens when they choose to love someone from the race of Men (ie Luthien/Beren and Arwen/Aragorn). So that idea helps with Padme dying of a broken heart for me.

So glad that the radio dramas book is out. I had been watching it on Amazon ever since your first interview, and then it was removed. I worried they'd dropped the project for some reason

Can someone share a link to where this book is available? I can’t find it for sale under either of its titles.

Great show. What a summer of great Star Wars interviews on RFR!

Another fun discussion and great interview. If you haven’t listened to the radio dramas you need to. Fantastic! He had yellow eyes, I tell you he had yellow eyes. Wolfman’s got nards. Lol. Sometimes I think Swank and I are mentally connected. Love the reference. I loved the Brady Bunch and Pirates reference with the jail cell scene. Do we know for sure that Jude is the one force pulling the key? We don’t actually see him doing this but assume based on how the scene is cut. All of the Star Wars videos and panels are available over on the chat section. Pretty good video and worth the watch if you haven’t seen them. We need the Smuggler’s Run radio dramas on Patreon. They are a ton of fun!
