The legendary recording studio in London where The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Oasis created music is also the same place where John Williams conducted many iconic tracks for STAR WARS soundtracks. Some of EMPIRE, and all of the rest of George Lucas STAR WARS films, along with some under the Disney watch, were recorded at Abbey Road. RFR V.I.P. Peter Beisser recently visited the famous studio and he provides us with a full report. Plus, we name our top five record albums of all-time and more!

My two favorite topics! Can’t wait!

He’s an icon, he’s a legend, and he is the moment…Peter Beisser, yay! 🎉🍻

GaryK from England

Star Wars and The Beatles; two of my favourite things! I can’t wait to give this Q&A a listen!!

Scott St. Louis

Holy Smokes! We finally have a shout out to Dynamite Magazine! Who can forget Bummers? Don’t you hate it when… Great Q&A as always Peter and Jimmy

Joe Dallas

That was so cool about the last chord on the pianos on “A Day In The Life”

Only just started great so far But re the adverts I often think the same Me undies The alec Guinness Norse god company The trainer company etc I feel if you’re a Star Wars retailer the people most likely to buy are those who are patreons By definition they have opened their wallets already. Perhaps once a month have the adverts at the end of the patreon pod for those who want to hear what’s being advertised at the moment. Just a suggestion.

zillobeast

This is more relevant I feel for rfr as the adverts are focused adverts for Star Wars products . Not some generic ads. Then again you did have those Belkin or reckon or something earphones for a long time!

Eric from Phoenix

Raycon ear buds. I bought some because I was too cheap to buy the Apple earbuds. Work pretty well for me and the only reason I bought them was due to the RDR advertisement. I would much rather have a Patreon post showing any information about advertisements that J & J are specifically doing versus listening to them in the podcast. I thoroughly enjoy not hearing the commercials but would be willing to support advertisers that J & J pitch versus random advertisements Apple adds. Just my two cents.

Blake

Hey. Patreon member here Blake. Jimmy ,You mentioned outlaw fest. I was the bass player for southern avenue who opened the show. Didn’t know if you got there early enough to check it out. We also headlined Chicago blues fest this past year. Anyway enjoy yall’s show.

Jimmy, I thought I heard an ad in the weekly RFR last week too. I scrubbed through again after seeing that FB post, but wasn't able to recreate it. I'll keep my ear open and let you know if I catch one in there. Also, with Taylor Swift, she doesn't need to do the halftime. She's too big, and the artist has to pay the NFL to perform at the Super Bowl halftime.

I loved this Q&A! It was awesome to hear your thoughts and opinions on music, musicians, albums and such. You guys went through so many great and iconic music groups. As someone that works at a craft beer brewery I really liked your previous Q&As as well. Peter, if you're ever in the Indianapolis area I'd be happy to meet up and show you around local breweries. That goes for anyone in this community as well. Three of my biggest passions are Star Wars, sports and craft beer!

Turtle Wars

It only took me 2 sessions to get through another nearly 3 hour Peter Beisser Q&A. That was another fun listen/watch Peter and Jimmy. I downloaded the new Vaughan Building album. I’ve been listening to their single ‘You Don’t Know Nothin’ Yet’ for many months now. Awesome they’ve recorded a full original album. Thanks for the heads up about the release. All of the albums you guys chose are great in their own rights. But only one of them would make it into my top 5 today. Like Jimmy mentioned, I would have 200 albums that could be interchanged as my top 5 depending on the day. But if I limit myself to only what I was listening to all the time through age 15 (1987 for me) and what was most influential to me, this would be my short list today: Black Sabbath, Black Sabbath 1970 Second Helping, Lynyrd Skynyrd 1974 Ride The Lightning, Metallica 1984 Reign in Blood, Slayer 1986 Master of Reality, Black Sabbath 1971 Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd 1973 also fits in there prominently somewhere. I spent a decade of my youth trippin’ with that album. Of course, I also got a lot of mileage out of Meddle, Ummagumma, The Wall, Animals, and Wish You Were Here back in the day.

Rebel Force Radio

It was hard for me to leave Sabbath, Skynyrd, Floyd and Metallica off my list! UMMAGUMMA! Just for "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict"

Turtle Wars

Oh yeah, that’s the “song”. Always one of the best parts of the experience. I had to choose two Sabbath albums because they are just that good. Their influence on almost all rock bands that followed them can’t be taken lightly. And of course, they gave society Heavy Metal. 🤘

Brian Robinson

One soundtrack I listen to by itself and put in often is the Trick or Treat soundtrack. It’s basically a Fastway album with the movie title slapped on it.

Valentin

Not enough STAR WARS ! 🤣 Jimmy you mean you never listen to movie soundtrack ?

Mike Mulvenna

Just got a chance to listen. What a great Q&A. I totally agree with kids missing out on the album experience. I actually just bought both my kids CD players and took them to the library to pick out albums. I had 1 rule. No soundtracks or compilations. I wanted them to listen to whole albums. They love it. We have been going back weekly.

Todd Stewart

Another great episode with Peter. You guys hit on a lot of my favorite classic rock albums.

Martin Lampen

Great podcast. Also loveing the Tom Petty covers in Bad Monkey (which is excellent).

Matthew Dillingham

So I went on a bit of a Zeppelin bender today after listening to this yesterday! Rocked through 1, 2, & 3 as well as Beatles white album lol currently listening to their 1973 performance at Madison Square Garden and taking some dabs and drinking a Voodoo ranger tropic force. Great episode from you gentleman, I didn’t think I was that interested at first but I was wrong!

Curtis in Omaha

As soon as I finished listening, I made a playlist of all the albums you guys listed. Yes, I will listen to the Raiders soundtrack in the middle of it all. No, I will not listen to The Beatles White Album twice in a row. 11.5 hours of music, in case you were wondering.

Russell

Jimmy. Whatever you do, do not watch the music video for “Distance” by Mammoth WVH. It’s Wolfgang’s tribute to his Dad.

Russell

Mammoth is probably one of the best bands I’ve heard the last 5years.

Rob Strecker

Well, I guess I am the first here to acknowledge and congratulate Michael on his first album, and to you, Jimmy and Wendy as the proud parents.

Eric from Phoenix

You two guys are speaking a whole different language. I don’t think any of these are on our yacht rock playlist :)

Eric from Phoenix

Awesome discussion! Jim, I’m a ruler follower, what can I say… I need to write down the top five albums and go out and listen to them. I’ve obviously heard of the Beatles and heard some of their songs but I’ve never purposely played one of their songs. Probably need to change that. Dynamite magazine. I remember that. I don’t think I got it but remember seeing it at the library.

Fettmatic

I can listen to a movie soundtrack just for listening sake. I can check out Akira one day, The Wolverine the next & Rogue One, etc.

Russell

Here I am a week later. Still thinking about my top 5, and why. Honorable mentions: Soundgarden- Superunknown Van Halen-1984 Nirvana- Unplugged in New York 5. Linkin Park- Meteora 4. Led Zeppelin IV 3. Foo Fighters- The Colour and the Shape 2. Shinedown- The Sound of Madness (deluxe) 1. Stone Temple Pilots- Purple

RobO from ChicagO

Hell yeah some Shinedown love! Love your list, I could never make a top 5 list, but love the Linkin Park and STP mentions. My number one album of all time is the debut Audioslave album, it pretty much was my introduction to rock and opened up the flood gates for all the other great bands I love to this day, STP, Soundgarden, AIC, RHCP.

RobO from ChicagO

Yeah they are really good, he recorded all the instruments himself on the debut album, not sure about the second. Saw them live twice already and they sound fantastic.

Russell

He did for the second too. He just recently just named his touring band as his band I think.

Russell

The first Audoslave is in my top 10. I bought like 5 copies that Christmas and gave them out as gifts. I’ve never done that.

RobO from ChicagO

But love the Shinedown mention, I saw them back in the day when they were still playing 100-150 people bars. Right before Sound of Madness released, loved their Leave a Whsiper and Us/Them albums. I remember when Sound of Madness released I was in Hawaii on vacation and they streamed it for free on MySpace, I was jamming out to it while the rest of the family was sleeping.
