Joe Dallas!!!

Turtle Wars

Vulptex was clearly taken from the scientific (Latin) name of the Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes).

Eric from Phoenix

Go out and purchase this music folks. We listen to it almost every night when we eat dinner. Have to skip around or we end up always listening to first couple songs.

You never disappoint Joe! Great hearing you guys reminisce and talking music. I look forward to listening to the album with you and your dad. I could talk to you and Jimmy both about Big Brother for hours. I'm thinking it'll either be Leah or Chelsie. If Angela ends up winning I may never watch it again, and I've seen every episode of every season. Stay safe during the hurricane, Joe! I don't want to end up seeing the top 10 list of RFR VIPs that were swept away in a hurricane!

zillobeast

Meant to say the best part of the whole pod was your recommendation as your dad as the greatest horn player ever. Brilliant

Marc Richard

So great thanks Joe, always great music discussion with you and Jimmy. Have you seen Geddy Lee’s show on paramount plus? One episode he visits Krist Novoselic and it’s absolutely delightful! It’s called Are Bass Players Human Too? I was in grade 10 when nevermind came out and have such great memories of it.

Ben P. Stein

Enjoyable show from start to finish as usual. I'm a HUGE fan of Marcus Miller. He's one of my top 10 favorite musicians. I've seen him multiple times; his shows are breathtaking. You were right, Joe, that he played all other instruments besides Miles Davis on seven of the Tutu tracks. Chick Corea is also a favorite musician of mine. One of my most beloved possessions is his Children's Songs piano book, which I pull out often throughout the year. Coincidentally, a local friend who is also an RFR listener who I would choose as a pet and I said the Vulptex, so I know I'm in good company. Last but not least, I hope you and yours stay safe during this upcoming hurricane. My kid, Fin, is at FSU and is right in its path, but is taking shelter now. Stay safe.

Shout out to the perfect 5th for Star Wars "Main Title." Great interview, Joe!

Joe Dallas

I met Chick in Pittsburgh at a small club when he went on break. He was so nice- I forgot I even did that! Thanks for your kind words as always and the storm closed school for me tomorrow, but it’s moving past me now…. Fingers crossed for your son!

Joe Dallas

I saw all four of those episodes and loved them…. I’ve been looking out for more but to no avail…. The Les Claypool one was awesome. I saw Primus play the Farewell To Kings Album in its entirety last year live! Insane and awesome…. Then they played a whole Primus show too and I was soo in the front row!!!

Luke

Visions of Joe Dallas jamming music in the path of a hurricane ! Stay safe !

Peter Beisser

Like smooth jazz, listening to a Joe Dallas chat with JMac can soothe the soul. Always one of my favorite listens in the Q&A cycle. And this one didn't disappoint.

Joe Dallas

And that happened last night…. I had to watch the radar and time my drive home between the squalls- yikes!

Ben P. Stein

So glad to hear that you met Chick. I met Marcus and his band before one of their shows at the Bottom Line in Greenwich Village in the early 90s. I also saw him in Georgetown around that time. “The Sun Don’t Lie” is one of my favorite albums of his. I also loved his work with David Sanborn. I was fortunate to have seen Sanborn on tour in 2022 especially since he passed away recently. I have also seen Bob James on his last two East Coast tour, most recently within the last year. He is still going strong in his 80s.

Eric from Phoenix

You are too kind in your comments. All the Q and A hosts are so different and varied it makes it a fun listen every time. I tried Malort while at the Bristol event. Awful is the only word I can use to describe it. Awful…

Dylan McGee

Loved this episode! Best musical analysis we gotten since Oxygen!

zillobeast

Ha love it! It sounds so bad it has to be good! Bring on the Malort! You all are brilliant it’s such a great community the past 3 weeks or so it feels like we’ve had so many great q and a. It’s a super treat when you refresh your podcast feed and see a new q and a Cheers lads

Russell

Wait. You mean there is a Big Brother subculture in the RFR community!?!

Scott St. Louis

Easily one of my favorite VIP’s, Joe your stories always get Jimmy Mac talking and sharing great stories. Loved the Miles Davis story about his glasses! Too bad we didn’t get to the to 10. Joe Dallas without a top 10 is like Peter Beisser without beer—but every rabbit hole is a journey of itself. Great show, as always!

Joe Dallas

I’m so glad we are buddies! Thanks for the kind words and my top ten shall be a sort of cliffhanger type kind of situation thing.

Russell

Fantastic episode. Big Brother, Smooth Jazz, and the VMA’s. You guys did give Kris Novoselic credit for something he didn’t do. It was Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine in 2000 that climbed the scaffolding while Limp Bizkit was accepting an award. Novoselic in 1992 threw his bass up in the air during Nirvana’s performance and almost knocked himself out. Also, the same VMA’s where Cobain, Novoselic, & Courtney Love almost got into a brawl with Axl Rose, Duff McKaggan, & Stephanie Seymour.

Joe Dallas

You are so right! That was my fault- now I remember it! And I remember an interview with Kris talking about that. Anyway, thanks for listening!! And I love Rage!

Eric from Phoenix

Fun time as always with the other J and J. I did take a ton of videos at the Doobie Brothers and then the Steve Miller, Journey and Def Leopard concerts. They didn’t say I couldn’t do that :).

Dr Jz

I really enjoyed the show! Gives me this feeling like I am there or that I have known you for years. It’s a good feeling.

Kenny

I wanna hang with you two. I kept talking along like I was In the conversation! 🤣 Joe first of, I'm a huge Chili's fan. Loved your album choice! Jimmy! I love the billy goat! Wifey had her first ever chezborger! And loved it! Man you guys rock eh!

Russell

As a result of this podcast I have revisited Nirvana and RHCP. Down the rabbit hole.
