One of the earliest STAR WARS collectibles on the market were trading cards. They came in wax packs, cereal boxes, loaves of bread, and from fast food restaurants. RFR V.I.P. Jeremy Lanning is a die-hard STAR WARS trading card collector who walks us through some of his prized possessions. Plus, Jeremy shares his anticipation for SKELETON CREW and more!

Happy belated Veterans Day to all my fellow bros and sisters 🫡

Always great and insightful, thank you, Jeremy! Star Wars trading cards were my way in back in 1977. Never was able to have all the cards, so I never completed the picture on the back. Great memories, great fun.

Jeremy, were you a corpsman??

Another great one Jeremy! Funny that you have that Mark Jackson card. He had a couple stints here in Indianapolis with the Pacers and is one of my all time favorites! All the trading card talk was awesome. I did some light collecting back in the mid eighties to mid nineties. As far as I know I don't have anything super rare. I have a few of the Star Wars ones but mainly have MLB and NBA ones.

Jeremy, another awesome Q&A. So much ground covered. So much goodness.

While listening to you both talking about Disney's lack of understanding of its Star Wars audience, it appears to me that it's less of "they don't know their audience" and more of "we want to make Star Wars for this type of viewer. " And time after time, the hardcore fans are the only ones watching the content as mentioned on previous episodes. Disney is like the guy that keeps trying to get their SO to watch Star Wars and they aren't interested.

I thought that Major Tom was in Huttese 🤷🏼‍♂️

Very nice episode. I like TMP & soundtrack is awesome. I'm collector of footbal cards too. HoF, Buffalo Bills & NFL players with ties with Florida State.

What a good show ! Thanks guys. I listen to RFR every week on my drive to the hospital and it’s my escape. I was born in 85 so I missed the opportunity to eat cereal in the morning watch them magazines and order ninja stars. Couldn’t stop laughing about that.

You need to get into them now. Pretty easy to find and not expensive. That’s my next quest after I finish the comics.

Loved the Creed mention Jeremy, I saw them this past summer and was blown away at how great they all sounded, especially Stapp. I am also a huge Tremonti fan and had the chance to talk to him twice, such a good dude and super underrated guitarist. Loved your story with the sticker.

I picked up the books for Star Wars and ESB, I still have many of my original SW cards, but not a complete collection.

Great episode! Jeremy, I love how you bring in psychology/therapy to your analysis of both the story and the fandom. Quality counseling is much needed in our society so thanks for serving in that way (and thanks for your military service as well)

Lots of ground covered in this discussion. I totally remember the old Soldier of Fortune magazine and the mail away throwing stars. My kids are constantly amazed at the crazy stuff that we did as kids. While listening to this bit I recalled a memory from over 45 years ago that illustrates my point. We had a next door neighbor who had two grandsons that would come and visit her. They were both 2-4 years older than me but we played whenever they were in town (I was maybe 8 when this story happened). We were playing hide and seek in their grandmas house as it had a ton of awesome hiding spots. When we got board of that the older brother decided he wanted to play darts. The grandma had an old school metal tipped dart set with the board hanging from the inside of a bedroom door. We played several games and then the older brother proclaimed we would be playing “live darts”. He made his younger brother (maybe 10) stand against the doorway and he proceeded to the throw darts around him like a knife thrower at the circus. Not sure how but he never hit his brother and thankfully he only played it once :). I was terrified I was next. Love the trading card talk. I never really had the Star Wars cards when I was a kid but that is next on my list when I complete the comics run. Not terrible expensive and pretty easy to find.
