The carpool is complete. On our first commute home for 2018 we are joined by Billy Mac who joins us for the ride and channels Billy Dee Williams along the way. We talk about the lack of Lando in THE LAST JEDI, the new Netflix documentary series “The Toys That Made Us”, a BondCast update, and Billy’s review of a vintage TV show hosted by Telly Salvalas called “Return to The Titanic” has us laughing our you-know-whats off. We wrap up with New Year's Eve recaps, some discussion about the negative feedback for THE LAST JEDI and how many times we’ve each seen the film thus far.

My NYE Death Star experience was 35 seconds off. NO ONE TOLD ME THERE WERE 2 FOX LOGOS! Lol

Really enjoyed this week's Rush Hour. Love what Jason said about not having the burden of explaining things --- that the audience will figure it out. I feel like trusting that your audience is smart enough and also sometimes leaving space to interpret are key assets of a good storyteller. I'm not sure where I'm at yet with TLJ as I need to see it more. I know you've done a few review shows, but hope you will keep talking about it in shows to come. Thanks for a fun show!

Lol with Billy Mac talking about the Titanic show!

😂 Thanks for this! 😂

I don't think you can include Cabbage Patch dolls because they were just a short-term thing. You can just as well say beanie babies. They aren't lasting enough to count for the other this category

AGREED! It's the fad factor vs long-term stability that crosses generations. I hear the next four in the series will be Transformers and LEGO (which I predicted) followed by Star Trek and Hello Kitty. I think Hot Wheels would have been more worthy than either of these. Star Trek did well with toys but nothing of the impact of Star Wars, so you are getting into a retread of a similar story. Trek simply did not have the impact. Nerf would have been an interesting story too. More interesting than Hello Frickin Kitty! - JMac

I thought about Trek while listening to the show. I remember having Battlestar Galactica toys and even the ship from Space: 1999, but I don't recall having a single Trek toy.

Keep up the great work guys! 👍👏

Can I just say though in defense of Hello Kitty, she was pretty darn popular in the late 70s/80s and had a resurgence in the late 2000s. When I was about four years old I got busted by my mom for shoplifting a Hello Kitty push-pin set. I was so determined to get Hello Kitty I even ran away from them at the mall one time to go to the store that carried it. I had no concept of money or what stores were for. She made me take them back and I had to apologize to the store cashier. The kicker is I was so mad she made me take them back that I kept two of the tacks. Had them for a very long time. 😂

Folks who get their ear bent over the use of "chrome dome" in TLJ obviously don't remember Han saying "golden rod" to 3PO in TESB. Some people just like to bitch I think...

Chris Hansford

I’m in total agreement with Jimmy Mac, SAM SMITH SUCKS!!

Monica

Haha. It's possible they are in my parents home, but talk about a needle in a haystack, they were so so small. For the record, that taught me to never do that again. 😊

Monica

I liked that line. Thought it was just right for the moment.

Great show guys! I really enjoyed the Toys that Made Us documentary as well. Hope they do an episode on Transformers before the season ends. Would love to see that. And I need to get back and watch Last Jedi again myself. I like Jason have only seen this twice so far. And I actually manage a movie theater here in town!! LOL. It's been so busy though for us during the holiday's once I leave work I didn't want to go back. But I plan to see it a few more times before it leaves.

Billy’s Lando impression made me think: If there were a animated film or short of Luke, Han, and Lando. Jason could voice Luke. Jimmy could voice Han. Billy could voice Lando.
