In response to the conversation generated on RFR LIVE last week, Jimmy Mac rewatched THE LAST JEDI all the way through for the first time since March. Hear how his opinions have reinforced and changed in an in-depth breakdown of the film. We spotlight the highs and lows of Episode VIII while considering how various characters and situations are portrayed, and where things are heading for the soon-to-be-concluding Skywalker Saga. We look at an Esquire article that claims the portrayal of Luke in THE LAST JEDI was put into motion by George Lucas himself. Plus, we mix in a little MAD MAGAZINE STAR WARS canon for a completely different (and wacky) perspective. Also this week, the attempt to recruit the youngest fans picked up steam with the newly launched STAR WARS: GALAXY OF ADVENTURES series of animated shorts. We give our first-glance adult opinions, then we talk to someone who the shorts are actually geared towards...A kid! Ten year old Bailey Swank shares her take on the latest in STAR WARS animation and tells us whether or not she thinks it will appeal to kid viewers.

I am so thankful for the honest review of TLJ. The movie is good (if it were a Battlestar Galactica episode) but, it drove a GIANT BLACK HOLE between TFA and EP IX. By the way if an actress (Dern) continues to say "Pew Pew" onscreen while firing a weapon, don't leave it in. Why did they run out of fuel? Because Rian Johnson stole his script from Robot Chicken and Battlestar Galactica.

Excellent conversation that was a long, thorough, thoughtful, and positive analysis of The Last Jedi. We're almost at the apogee of the SW saga movies, so it's a great time for a fresh rewatching. "More hits than misses", yes. Sorry to those other snowflake podcasters who think everything in new SW is perfect and needs our unconditional love. We need to create these honest reviews and reactions so that Disney/LFL knows this is sacred to us and not simply a creative sandbox for edgy directors. It's not to say that TLJ wasn't carefully constructed, it just wasn't strongly constructed.

I can guarantee you that Brits don't say "He gave a damn about you."

Some great insight from Bailey! I can't imagine I was that well spoken when I was 10 years old lol. As far as Galaxy of Adventures goes...believe it or not...it's pretty good for what it is. In fact, the Vader one and Luke vs the Wampa are awesome. It really makes me want longer episodes. I'd even go as far to say that it's better than Resistance (which I like). I was afraid it would diminish the movies for some reason or make them ultra kiddy. Not the case at all.

We did the same thing. No Christmas music while decorating in this house lol.

Yah, all these other podcasters and reviewers who refuse to be critical is a major issue. Disney Star Wars will never crawl out of mediocrity if it continues.

Great episode. Liked the analysis for TLJ, as it’s downfalls are hard to ignore, especially when you start directly comparing each component to TFA. While it’s a movie I’ll still continue to watch plenty of times, you can’t help but feel it was a bit of a missed opportunity that could’ve easily been avoided had there been a set story structure outline from the beginning.

Thanks for the TLJ refresher. I agree with most of what you said but I actually have no problem with Holo keeping Poe out of the loop. Yes, they were on their last desperate legs, but there was a plan (that would have worked if it hadn't been for those darn kids!) so I didn't think it at all inappropriate for her to put him in his place. He wasn't a member of the command crew, so there was no need for him to know the plan. Discipline and trust in your superiors are important lessons. Had he just fumed and yelled and not hatched his own mutinous plan he would have learned his lessons without quite so much bloodshed.
