Admiral Ackbar’s Tim Rose Talks Star Wars Puppeteering (Patreon)

Jimmy Mac sat down with puppeteer Tim Rose at Star Wars Celebration Japan to talk about his contributions to Return of the Jedi performing such characters as Admiral Ackbar, Salacious Crumb, and Sy Snootles. Tim takes us behind-the-curtain and reveals some of the techniques that went into bringing these characters to life. Not just Return of the Jedi either. Tim worked with Jim Henson and Frank Oz on The Muppet Show and Dark Crystal. And, another claim to fame for Tim is he is the talent behind the performance of infamous Lucasfilm creation Howard The Duck. Plus, we talk Tim’s appearances in  the vintage Star Wars documentary “Classic Creatures” and he makes a strong case for bringing creatures and characters to life via practical effects instead of CGI.
