We're back on the road, riding shotgun with Jason as we begin to unpack emotionally from Star Wars Celebration Chicago. We found the convention to be truly rejuvenating after walking the floor, meeting fellow fans and having non-stop deep discussions about The Saga. We tell some stories from both the con itself and after-hours, including cigar nights, The Phantom Menace panel, and a cool gift for Jimmy Mac. We talk about why it's OK to share passionate criticisms of Star Wars, old and new, along with our ever-evolving relationship with The Last Jedi. Then of course, we argue about Star Wars a little bit. We also get deep about our approach to Star Wars podcasting and notice the similarities to sports talk radio. All this plus special appearances by The Three Stooges and Little Rascals!

Great episode! Jason-Two cheeseburgers with Big-Mac sauce is basically a Big-Mac :)

super hype to listen to this at work tomorrow!

I own the Stooge box set Jason is talking about and it’s awesome! It’s “Hey Moe! Hey Dad!” and is a behind the scenes mini series by Moe’s son. The first episode is a little rough (I think it was a pitch pilot), but episode 2 onwards is great and presented in a documentary format. The version Jason wants goes for about $25 or less and includes reproductions of Stooge stuff. Highly recommended.

I think I get what Jason was saying, I’ve noticed that there are wholistic geeks who follow EVERYTHING. I saw a car a few days ago with bumper stickers for Star Wars, MCU, Doctor Who, GoT and Trek. I personally think it’s impossible to commit yourself to so many fandoms on the same level as a die hard fan would, and I also think wholistic geeks find it easier to say “yeah, I’d love a Star Wars Movie that does away with the usual saga conventions and is like Game of Thrones or an MCU movie”. Nothing wrong with those types of fans, but I can see how they would not see eye to eye with purists or those more committed to the franchise.

Well Jason, I might be the only one to say that you're not really missing out on much with a Big Mac 😅

A Whopper over a Big Mac any day! 😁

Loved this Rush Hour, great comparison with sports talk radio - I always appreciate your honesty and opinions, even when mine are different. One sided “anything” is extremely boring - makes the topic pointless to talk about.

Great episode. I've been a little hard on Swank lately about his attitude towards certain things but it was great to hear him say Celebration really has him excited and feeling good about things to come. Like Jimmy, I too was tired of all the internet nonsense about TLJ and the state of our fandom. I thought his comment about never wanting Star Wars to be used as a weapon was spot on. I think after watching Celebration on the livestream, watching the reactions to the new trailer, and seeing people from all walks of life enjoying Star Wars together, I think the state of our fandom is just fine.
