Some wild rumors erupted this week claiming George Lucas still owns the rights for STAR WARS  characters he created and Disney is sending him checks to use them. We wade through the rumors and present a case that we hope determines whether or not these reports are valid. We got our first look at the second and final season of STAR WARS RESISTANCE in a new trailer that dropped this week. We discuss some of the highlights and info revealed. And is a well-known actor from ABC’s THE GOLDBERGS appearing in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER? The answer is YES and we will tell you who it is!  We look forward to STAR WARS announcements potentially coming next weekend at D23, including confirmation of a KENOBI series on Disney+ starring Ewan McGregor. Plus, more on the definition of “Lucasian”, a Rancho Obi-Wan update, and Jimmy Mac’s Artoo vs BB-8 Facebook debate.

If it will ever stop raining here in Clearwater, I’ll listen as usual while mowing!

One thing you guys haven't gotten to yet and admittedly I'm only halfway through the episode is that Pablo recently tweeted that there is one character that Disney does not actually own. But he wouldn't say who that character is

Brooks P

So Jeff Garlin, he has to be playing Klaud right? Seems too obvious.

Jared Cantor

Maybe a five or ten minute patreon exclusive show going over that week's episode of resistance? I may be one of few folks excited for next season

Eric from Phoenix

Gotta love Jeff Garlin channeling his Goldberg’s character when he said “CP3O”. Just disappointed he didn’t use the term “robit” in the interview.

Rebel Force Radio

I thought this too, but he did say he got scanned for his characters wardrobe. Does Klaud have a wardrobe? Why would they scan him if the character is a CGI thing? That is, of course, assuming Klaud is CGI.

Hey Jimmy.....hate to be that guy, but......your right Disney pays rent for Lucasfilm operations at LDAC to the "Letterman Digital Arts Ltd." organization which GL is a partner in. But, the Presidio National Trust actually owns the land & LDAC only has an 80 yrs "land lease" in which they pay apprx. $6-8 million in rent ea/ year (estimating 2019 prices). So, technically LDAC is subleasing to Disney & other occupants @ the center, but LDAC then turns around & pays rent to the Presidio National Trust (I guess as a National Park the land can't be sold, which is why they only lease it). But, who knows what happens in apprx. 64 yrs. when the lease is up? Again, sorry to nitpick..... https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/blog/2012/10/lucasfilm-disney-deal-wont-impact.html

As to why Jeff Garland is in Ep. IX: Remember Michelle Rejwan, the new head of live action production for Lucasfilm, was an assistant to Garland before becoming an assistant to J.J. Probably called him up and said come hang out.

Rebel Force Radio

True, Lucas does not own the land, but he does own the buildings with a partnership, so he is still essentially Disney’s “landlord”. They pay him to work there.

Javier Solorzano

Yes, and you were Absolutely correct about that point you made in the Podcast….. again sorry for the Nitpicking

Rebel Force Radio

All good Javier. I was worried if I started breaking down GLs deal with the natl parks, that would confuse things.

Jimmy, you really got to sit down and watch Rogue One again. It's so good. Like Solo, everytime I watch it I like it more and more. I really love all the characters. Yah, they didn't get a ton of development, but I think what we did get was sufficient. Jynn, Cassian, Baze, Chirrut, K2...the smaller characters like Generals Draven and Merrick...the mission/battles...the locations like the Ring of Kafrene, Scarif, and Jedha are awesome visually...bor gullet, and bat-sh*t crazy Saw. Everything just worked for me. Disney's best yet.

Rebel Force Radio

I have been watching R1 a lot lately. Every SW fan I talk to these days seems to be gushing over R1 too. It's a good one.
