RFR gathered with listeners and friends in downtown Cleveland to see STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER on opening night. We gathered immediately following the first public screening to share our fresh and raw opinions, emotions, criticisms, reactions, and occasional confusion, with a live “studio audience”. You've been listening to RFR talk about Star Wars for 14 years and it's been a long, strange trip! Join us for first thoughts of the final episode of the Skywalker Saga!

A huge thanks from Germany, guys! I've been waiting for this episode since wednesday morning, since we got TROS two days early and man it was really strange to not have you guys sorting thoughts immediately after steppping out of the cinema. All I can say is, I am still stoked and exhausted from my first time experiencing THE END. Can't wait to see it again this weekend. Thanks for your huge amount of superb Star Wars content. Hope to get to speak to you someday (or night, coming from the european timezone ;))

TFA. Nostalgia overload. But well-made movie. TLJ. Devisive. But a well-made movie. What was TROS? Too much and too little all at the same time.

I’m looking forward to listening to this later to hear your thoughts. Generally, I liked the premise and concept behind this movie. Execution fell a little short for me. Very rushed. Seemed like it needed 2 movies to fully develop and let things breathe. Too bad 8 “subverted” things the way it did. Also, some things just flat out didn’t add up or make sense. But lots of things to enjoy about this film too. MTFBWY all

My initial thoughts....first and foremost I really had an enjoyable time watching TROS. And in the end, being entertained and having fun watching a SW movie is what it’s all about. I echo the sentiments of others that J.J. had the unenviable task of “fixing” so much of what Rian screwed up in TLJ. And he had to pack so much into a 2.5 hour film...but I got the “feels” many time throughout and really felt it at the ending (which took us back to 1977 & the beginning).

I still don't know. I enjoyed it as a (very rushed) film but when literally every scene harkens back to a scene (sometimes more than one scene, such as the fight on the span over the water, which had shades of both Obi Wan's little tangle with Jengo and Mustsfar) from a previous film, it keeps me from becoming fully immersed. My three word review: rushed fan service.

You guys have heard of the word triad, right? Dyad is the same thing, just with two instead of three.

As always, this guy has some great insight and amazing recall of all canon materials

In terms of "every sith" Vs "every Jedi," I think the numbers are even. The Rule of Two, which was not always a thing in the first place, is countered by the Jedi's restrictions on breeding, which was also not always a thing.

And we haven't even mentioned how lando mispronounced Han

Random people shouting out comments in the audience, same with your Mandalorian reviews.. I’m here for Jason and Jimmy’s opinion and not some random schlubs opinion 🙄

For anyone looking for a great laugh, or two, or twenty, watch Screen Rant's pitch meeting video on YouTube for TROS

I just finished TLJ and I think TROS makes it a better film. I actually enjoyed it this time- of course I did skip through every scene that did not contain Luke/Kylo/Rey....

I was SO afraid of this happening. Fortunately the only comment was a, "Here we go!" as it started
