Ashley Eckstein attended her first-ever fan convention back in October 2008 at Star Wars Fan Days in Plano, Texas, where she sat down with Jimmy Mac for her first-ever one-on-one in-person Star Wars interview. Ashley discusses her then-new character, Ahsoka Tano, and the impact she’s had on both boys and girls, along with the relationship she has with Anakin Skywalker, and the way Ahsoka will continue to grow as THE CLONE WARS proceeds. Ashley also talks about how her own personality and confidence comes through Ahsoka, along with some behind-the-scenes stories. Ashley’s husband, former MLB infielder/2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein joins the conversation. David talks about the similarities between baseball fans and Star Wars fans, along with how life has changed since his wife became a Jedi Knight.

“Nothing’s rushed”. What the hell happened Disney!?!?

Javier Solorzano

Regardless of EVERYONE'S excitement about new SW movies/content after Disney's purchase; sadly, what has happened since is 100% predictable & fated....... Aside from some highs (Rogue One & Mandalorian), the new SW feels more like Disney Product than SW creations (part of this is GL's doing for not leaving a qualified Creative in charge of LFL). Disney (acting exactly like a corporation & as Igor has admitted) rushed SW content out to capitalize on SW; so as to show their Share Holders the financial return of their billion(s) $ purchase. A Benevolent Dictator is needed @ LFL?? GL referred to himself as such & as much as I felt this was a characteristic of GL's power-control needs, it seems as if LFL demands an Absolute Single-vision Ruler. Of course this will NEVER happen as Disney is a true Corporate Overlord & sadly I believe there will not be a Messiah who has the inherent magic of SW at his fingertips (blasphemously, not even GL at this point) to "continue the saga" & expand it. Disney has FULLY integrated a P.C. corp. agenda into SW we can already see & that will further dictate what stories & characters are "pushed" to further Disney's P.C. agenda. Predictably, this will further drive SW off the cliff. I pray for future SW content that will earn the right to join the BEST of SW as the pinnacle of what should be produced (& long-term this is a necessity, for if this doesn't happen SW will die as a franchise no matter how much $ Disney throughs at it). Sadly SW is more Disney product now than a true SW Creative's Vision, & after 8 yrs., I'm not holding out for things to change ANY TIME soon......boo hoo......yah, it's a bummer. This is ALL very "everything or nothing" but I'd rather have no SW (w/ the memories of what was) rather than Disney Product that pales in comparison & in the end is "empty entertainment" as an excuse to keep buying tickets & going to Disney movies.....

Interest take and I think that was the fear when Disney bought Star Wars. One the one hand we've had more content over the last 8 years than in the previous 35 combined. On the other hand the quality is up for debate , although if we're being honest I think the same could be said about the prequels. I personally enjoyed the prequels when they released and love them now. I also have enjoyed, to a much lesser degree, the sequel trilogy. My main hang up w/ the ST is its lack of originality. All three movies are, to varying degrees, well made movies in terms of cinematography, acting, directing, choreography, etc. but I don't feel like they have anything new to add to the story. Say what you will about the quality of the prequels, they had a vision and were a bold and fresh take on Star Wars. They made me look at the entire saga in a different light. I struggle to come up with an answer to the question, "What was the point of the ST? What did it add to the saga?". Ultimately it just feels like a modified reboot of the OT to me, especially after watching RoS. And I think that's what Disney wanted which is why they hired JJ Abrams. Like you said, they wanted recoup the cost as quick as possible and make the shareholders happy. They weren't interested in taking the risks necessary to make something truly unique and worthy of being a sequel to RoTJ. So, they completely ignored the prequels and just tried to copy the OT with some modifications for the passage of time. I wish they would have done something completely new to start. I think they would have been better off because there wouldn't be the added expectations of 40 years of fans expectations of the story. Then again, Lucas kinda backed them into a corner by announcing the sequel before the acquisition.

I agree w/ virtually all your comments. In the end I think Why I added my (rather long) comment is that.....I demand MORE from SW. Everything I said (& what you said) has already been said; ad nauseam......................If OT SW fans don't "DEMAND REAL" SW content, Disney will not listen. Corporations will ALWAYS go down the "quick, cheap" road for profits. Sadly this has been the pattern w/ Disney; "whip the horse till it dies, then jump on another....doesn't matter what kind or its quality, just keep whipping the profits in". I am not a "corporate basher" in any sense, but Disney has already shown that "they're going their own way", OT fans be damned. Why this matters is because its always easier to abandon a "STANDARD" & just create your own excuse for SW & just say take it or leave it, "we own it now". This mentality has trickled down to LFL w/ notable employee's bashing fan's who didn't slavishly praise TLJ................................The only thing that Disney will listen to (& therefore LFL) is "the sound" of dropping sales of movie tickets, toys, books, games, etc.................................................& in the end it is not enough for a Disney movie to begin w/ the LFL Title Card for me to waste my time.....when you've seen the best of SW......why waist your time w/ Disney product?..........enough!! (they have to EARN my viewership).

Kyle Starkel

I can't say I feel quite the same way as you. I do think Disney has been a solid steward of the franchise so far. My main hang up, and I understand why they did it, is that the ST is just a remix/soft reboot of the OT, in terms of overall story, and basically completely ignored the prequels. I just think the could have done so much more with it had they hired someone besides JJ Abrams to do TFA. Again, it's not bad, I liked all three movies to varying degrees, just very safe. I look forward to seeing what they with the blue sky opportunity now that the "Skywalker saga" is behind them.

I am happy to be getting more Star Wars. “OK” Star Wars is still better than just about anything else. These comments only apply to the screen. I never considered myself a huge EU fan, I read the books and dabbled in the comics, but I feel like the biggest slap in the face is the trashing of the EU. Disney has a chip on their shoulder like that stuff we loved wasn’t good enough. Now where are they? Churning out garbage title after garbage title. They claimed to want to follow the marvel model, but then Kennedy is out there claiming there’s no source material. The old EU existed because there wasn’t the technology or the money to pump out quality content on the screen. Those days are gone. They should have put time and money into creating quality adaptations, dropping the parts that don’t work. Look at Infinity War. That is a duuuuumb comic, but goddamn if it ain’t one hell of a movie. Scale back the garbage novels and comics and start giving us quality animation series at least. I would’ve given a testicle to see a show set between eps 4 and 5. Instead we got a mediocre comic. Coooooool.

Rebel Force Radio

With this in mind, you have to look back at the two seasons of Star Wars Resistance to be the biggest waste of time, talent and resources in the history of the franchise.

Steven M DuBrey

Absolutely. The hardest part was how gorgeous the show was. It truly was a total waste. My 9 year old couldn’t even get invested and she loves Star Wars.

Eric from Phoenix

Loved this episode! So cool to go back in time to back when Clone Wars was new. I admit that I didn’t like Ashoka the first part of season one due to some of the dialogue but after that I loved her. Terrific character and my favorite new character from the Clone Wars.

Rebel Force Radio

Well stated both of you guys, but I tend to lean towards Kyle’s take as I also look forward to more Blue Sky Star Wars and more Mandalorian. I think that there have been some growing pains in these early years but the best Disney Star Wars has to offer is coming. Nobody said it would be easy post-George Lucas. Shit, it wasn’t always a walk in the park WITH George Lucas, but he always had my respect as THE MAN. Disney and Lucasfilm-without-Lucas has a lot more to prove to me to gain a similar respect. I say bring it on!
