On the show my audio sounded terrible. I’m calling from Canada, should I use something other than my mobile? Stoked this will be every week. Thanks for taking my call guys. Horrifying ziro doll though Jimmy.

Is this new series replacing comlink? Or just more RFR goodness coming our way?

Rebel Force Radio

No. This is just the weekly show. RFR Comlink will continue to be a Patreon exclusive. Look for a new Ep this weekend.

You guys mentioned Eddie Izzard in this week's show in reference to his interview with Ewan McGregor. I'm just wondering if you guys are familiar with his Death Star Cafeteria bit? Somebody even animated it with legos. In case you haven't seen it, or forgot about it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv5iEK-IEzw

So I'm coming to this rather late but I had to comment. Jimmy mentioned that Jacen and Jaina aren't important to the story of Heir to the Empire and thus could be excised if made into current canon. What?! Jimmy, come now! They were how Joruus C'baoth was persuaded by Thrawn to join him! I think it could work to adapt Heir to the Empire and make it to where C'baoth would have another motivation to join Thrawn; or even have it to where he could be enticed to by baby Ben Solo. But to say those twins weren't important to the story? No way! I also think they're important for other reasons down the line, but besides those I think they mirror Luke and Leia rather nicely as the new twins to lead the charge against evil. I think they were established early on as being of prime importance in that by Tom Veitch in his Dark Empire trilogy, too. And Luke and Leia were motivated in particular by them to be stronger leaders and guardians, in particular because C'baoth was preying upon them, a kind of foreshadowing of their importance in the grand scheme of things. It's pretty well established that if they died or were taken, the next generation would not succeed, thus fitting them rather nicely into the mythological mould established by the OT of certain characters being of prime importance to the well being of the galaxy. Jacen and Jaina are quintessential! I wish we got them or at least something like them from the new stuff.... Not sure who we're really supposed to look to to fill that role now.

I don’t see why they couldn’t do Heir to the Empire series in animation as written. Just slap a label on there that it’s legends. That’s what I would love to see. How about some of the old Marvel comics? Do the same thing. Make this content that only goes on Disney+

Yup, completely agree. They already basically permitted an "alternate universe" when they decided to keep reprinting the old stuff and calling it "Legends." They could very well have chosen otherwise (of course you could imagine the fan outrage!) But this is the consequence of keeping the old line alive. Plus there's tremendous demand for it! And it has a fanbase decades old right out the door, so a very loyal following. Huge advantages already. The new books aren't doing well any more than the new movies (excepting Mandalorian). What do they have to lose?
