Another awesome RFR Early Bird Release!

Mike Quinn is the talent behind Nien Nunb in RETURN OF THE JEDI and the Sequel Trilogy. Mike joins us IN THE CANTINA to talk about his journey from The Muppets to STAR WARS and shares stories from his career, including memories from working with Billy Dee Williams, George Lucas and more. Speaking of The Muppets, recently Disney+ added THE MUPPET SHOW to its streaming service, including the STAR WARS episode from 1980 featuring Mark Hamill & Anthony Daniels. We look back at the famous episode and feature highlights. Disney head honcho Bob Chapek addressed a few controversial Star Wars topics during a recent investors conference call, including the Gina Carano situation and Kathleen Kennedy’s future with Lucasfilm. We hear what he said and offer our opinions. Plus, listener feedback opens up a fun conversation about The Battle of Endor and more!

Chut chut! Id actually like some input on this because the secret history of star wars talks about George working on Apocalypse Now and then taking some of those themes into SWs when AN was shelved briefly. Now clearly this wasn't the only thing at play, but was it not something that was in play? Themes like ewoks vs the empire seem likes a clear line being drawn. Again just asking ...I definitely could misremembering the book it has been some time...great show as always!

Brooks P

Great topic, thanks for the early bird!

Rebel Force Radio

Apocalypse Now is based on "Hearts of Darkness" and really isn't a political story. Sure, there were tons of politics behind America's involvement in Vietnam, but Apocalypse Now isn't a story about politics, just like Star Wars isn't a story about politics.

Chut Chut Jimmy - thank you for the reply! Did you know Conrad didn't even learn English fluently till his 20's...friggin crazy. Can't say I fully agree with HoD isn't about politics, but think we can both agree it is definitely social commentary about imperialism/colonialism, expansion etc of which politics-of-the-day played heavily into. But that is neither here nor there. That being said - I didn't mention politics in my above comment because I agree with you. To be specific I was saying the social commentary in AN on the Vietnam war, according to SHOSW, made its way into the OT. Agree fully that SW isn't about politics. Ps - I really hope I don't come across as annoying/argumentative. I just love discussing the wars thats all!

Hiking in the Catskills at the moment, and I realized RFR has gone along with me on road trips since I met my wife's family in Northern California in 2008. 13 years listening while away from home. Crazy long time. Thanks for the memories.

This was a really fun episode! I had no idea Mike Quinn had such a career. Charming guy, too!

First time I listened to rfr was on a road trip w my wife to Nashville...it was our honeymoon! Enjoy the hiking!

Jason preaching! Yes, don't let anyone take Star Wars away from you and when you're feeling down about state of Star Wars just turn on your favorite movie and remember why you loved it in the first place.

That was especially encouraging to hear for me, personally. And their discussion about what old EU books and comics, etc, to go back to and respark that passion was just right. I remember how much I've always loved Dark Horse's stuff; just how they almost always captured that special feeling. These guys are right: There's so much to love out there. It's been good to reflect a bit on the heart of my own passion for this stuff. I bought all the old Tales of the Jedi trade paperbacks a while ago, along with all the Dark Empire ones. But the original trade paperbacks under Dark Horse, not the later omnibus ones, and that felt so good to get my hands on those originals. Cost a pretty penny, but for that stuff it's worth it. Maybe I'll have to get back into the comic and novel collecting scene a bit. Go for more of the originals and first editions. Maybe even start looking at the old West End hardcovers.

Thanks guys,, just in time for Miss Piggy getting canceled.

What a show!!! Hearing from my main sullustian himself was so rad. I never knew this mans backstory and I enjoyed listening to every second of it. Only RFR can bring us the best podcast material like this! And I loved Jason’s words on why drama in the background should never affect our love for the franchise. Beautiful words and thoughts from you all

Travis Fishburn

Looking forward to it! Thanks for all the content!

Just started listening. The Star Wars Muppets episode was released on DVD. We bought it in the early 2000’s. I think it came with one other episode. My boys loved watching it when they were little. Now back to RFR.

Scott (Sunny Scotland)

Great show guys and a lot of fun! Only discovered rebel force radio last year so have years worth of content to catch up on. ‘Bob is your trash compactor running?’ Got some funny looks laughing out loud at this!

jediantilles .

Awesome episode! Always love Mike Quinn's stories!

Jared Cantor

What an awesome interview with some mind blowing info, like George directing those cockpit scenes. I really hope RFR creates some publicly available directory listing all the awesome interviews you've done and which episode they're on and at what time stamp. It would be a huge benefit to the fandom for future generations

Gershwin- Summertime

Wow. This was a *particularly* great episode, guys. I feel absolutely refreshed and re-energized as a Star Wars fan by the excellent interview with Mike Quinn - which I think really nicely dovetails with what Jason was saying earlier in the episode about going back and remembering what exactly it was about Star Wars that we loved in the first place and reminding ourselves that nobody can ever take that away from us. Mike Quinn’s joyousness is just infectious and really demonstrates how he’s never lost focus on what he loves - and it reiterates that neither should we. Huge thanks to Jimmy and Jason for an excellent episode.

Jeff LeCrone

The Gershwin song was Summertime.
