2+ hours SW talk on deck, thanks RFR!

Keith Say

Excellent, enjoyed that, thanks

Commander Bly

LOL!!! “Those son-of-a-bitches...”😂

Commander Bly

@Nate - Dude. Totally with you on the Rogue One space battle scenes!👍

Blake Weaver

Great conversation. We need more of this in the community. Reflecting on these personal moments is what makes Star Wars the special thing it is. I know one of my top moments was the Chicago Celebration Patreon live Rfr show. I got to shake Jason’s hand and say thank you. And J-Mac you and me hugged for some reason. BEST night ever!

For what it’s worth, here’s a couple of mine: • 1999 had an entire room at a local historical museum to display my Star Wars collection. • 2008 I was Captain Rex for Lucasfilm/Cartoon Network at King of Prussia Mall outside of Philly. • At the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh, I invented the cross-pistols Captain Rex pose while playing Rex at the Vader Project exhibit with the 501st. • Got to meet Dave Filoni at his alma mater, Edindoro University, and see him on stage tell his life’s story. His immediate family was also in the audience.

Nathan Wenzel

Love it! Everyone should list their Top ten on the chat!

Jeff Holland

After listening to this episode, I’ve come to the conclusion that we all need to thank Wonder Bread for RFR existing, right? 😃

Joe Dallas

Great show Nathan and Jimmy! Survival pack ( I got at least 5 lol) had gas masks too!

I've honestly never been a big fan of the bread, but this just gave me a newfound appreciation for the company!

Sean W. from Warsaw

Well, I always feel bad I couldn't take you up on your offer to get in touch about Star Wars in the 90s, so I'll take this as my next best shot! This'll be just me winging it a bit, but here goes: 1. Having a total life change seeing the OT on a friend's VHS tape collection. They also recorded it from TV. I remember it being super dark onscreen, and then I realized I needed to adjust the contrast. Lol 2. Playing with the action figures and collecting all the merch with my dad. Still have the 12 inch Anakin from ROTJ before Hayden replaced Sebastian Shaw. Centerpiece of my man cave! 3. Seeing the Special Editions with my dad. First time ever seeing the films on the big screen and really wish I could do that again now that I have a son.... 4. Shadows of the Empire! The whole multimedia experience has a very warm place in my heart. 5. Dark Empire. The comic is trippy to read, but really pushed the boundaries of the story going forward. (I can't list Zahn's stuff because it came to me way too late.)

Sean W. from Warsaw

6. Tales of the Jedi. These stories continue to remain some of the greatest stories for me. They opened my imagination in ways not equalled by anything else in Star Wars. 7. Seeing the prequels with my dad and brother. Never understood the backlash and the films will always go down as some of my favorite films ever. 8. The old EU, in general. Seeing the lackluster content these days gives me an even greater appreciation for those old stories and how bold they often were. I always loved reading all the comics and novels anyways, but especially nowadays. Growing up I had several shelves on my bookshelf of literally only Star Wars novels. I've since downsized, but to my regret, so I'm very slowly working to reacquire my collection on physical copy. Just not the same digitally.... 9. Marrying a fine woman who was a fan to begin with! She actually really loves the movies and grew up on the prequels, even having dressed up as Queen Amidala for Halloween. A nice little compliment to me dressing up as Vader one year! I'll always deeply appreciate how lucky I am to have found her. :D 10. Not to sound like I'm trying to copy you, Nate, but it may have to be RFR, too! I can't express my appreciation enough to Jason and Jimmy for all the work they've done, and for giving an opportunity to come on the show like this and just nerd out on the air. Who does that?!

Sean W. from Warsaw

Nate, I had to laugh at your mind-blowing memory about Anakin and Padme! Beautiful! I've always believed that one of the reasons why that romance is so often maligned is because most people are uncomfortably reminded of their own teenage years and see themselves reflected in those two characters. We've all been there! My goodness, the awkwardness.... I can kinda see myself in Anakin, honestly. Formative years are rough! Thanks for bearing it all, man! Anyone else out there have anything similar to relate....? Who else has the guts of Nate Wenzel?! Lol

Sean W. from Warsaw

Hey Jimmy, so you know how you overlooked Nate's promised items? It came to my attention you overlooked the promised pics of the Joruus C'baoth action figure you brought up in one of my Q and A's! Bad Jimmy! :P

Sean W. from Warsaw

Just as a refresher, you had said you were gonna put up these pics on Patreon given it's a custom figure. You also were gonna see if Swank knew anything about it, as you didn't remember who made it, so you had wanted to give credit to the guy, if possible. Just lookin' out for that Mac integrity! It's what us RFR Patrons do for our host. :D

Chronologically: 1) Watching the OT on Sci-Fi hosted by Billy Dee Williams for the first time w/ my older sister 2) Going to see the Special Editions in the theater with my family 3) Visiting the Smithsonian in DC to see the Boba Fett & Chewbacca costumes and other original props 4) My dad surprising me with a life-sized Boba Fett cardboard cutout (which stands in my living room to this day) 5) Buying w/ allowance money and reading my first EU book: Tales of the Bounty Hunters 6) Creating a custom B-wing out of generic space Legos (kids today with official sets are spoiled!!) 7) Getting an N64 for Christmas with the only game I wanted: Shadows of the Empire 8) Standing in line to see Ep 1 with my fellow Star Wars nerds in junior high, dizzy with excitement (unfortunately I didn’t enjoy anything about it besides the lightsaber duel— I felt it was aimed at little kids, and at age 14, it deeply offended me) 9) Going to see The Force Awakens on opening night (I cheered and loved the entire film) 10) Watching Luke Skywalker appear at the finale of The Mandalorian Season 2

Here’s mine (in no particular order): 1. Seeing Star Wars in the theater in 1977 w/ my dad and sister. I was only 4 yrs old but I remember it vividly. 2. SWC VI in 2012. My first and only (so far) SWC I’ve been too. My dad past away earlier in the year, and I’d debated on cancelling the trip. So glad I didn’t. Had a great time! 3. Meeting Anthony Daniels at C2E2 in 2012. He didn’t charge for his autograph and I got him to sign my SW in Concert program. AD was 1st SW celebrity that I’ve ever met. 4. SW in Concert near my hometown. I bought the VIP package and loved every second of it! 5. TPM trailer in Nov 1998. The build up to Ep 1 was so fun and crazy. We had no idea when the 1st trailer was coming out. 6. Playing with all my SW figures when I was little. My fav were the MF, ATAT, and Han Solo In Hoth gear. 7. Build up to Episode VII. Never did I ever imagine Ep VII would ever be made. 8. Watching Eps 1-6 movies in one day once they were all available on DVD. I took the day off from work and watched them by myself just to see if it was possible. Spoiler alert: it was possible! 9. Watching Eps 1-7 in one day at a theater in 2015. So much fun watching all 7 movies in one day in a theater. My armpits stunk so much by Ep 7. 10. Going to see Magic of Myth museum tour in Brooklyn in spring 2002. I just happened to be in NYC at the time. So freaking cool! Honorable mention: seeing the Special Editions in the theater in 1997. I had forgotten how much fun watching the SW movies in a full theater was. Of course the last time I saw one in the theater was Jedi in 1983.

Sean W. from Warsaw

Hopefully, when things settle back down from all this virus mess, theaters out there get the smart idea to show some Star Wars films. :D Man, to see the originals on the big screen again would be so glorious.....

Jeff Holland

Agree. I’d be okay if they put all the SW movies in theaters for a limited time every couple of years. Whenever things get back to normal - whenever that is - having the SW movies in theaters would be a great way of getting people back into theaters.

We were at both RFR events in Chicago. Unfortunately, we got there late at Regies and had to sit in the very back. Good news is we met a nice young couple attending their first Celebration. We got to Alulu about 2 hours early and got front row seats. Only bad thing was I had three before the live show started.

Eric from Phoenix

I got the Battlestar Galactica cards from wonderbread. Also, I think I had one of the Star Wars ones, Tie chasing and X-Wing? I can’t remember.

Eric from Phoenix

The survival pack was awesome. Several of the items only existed in that pack. Also, you got a ton of extra blasters which was awesome!!

Eric from Phoenix

Great topic Nathan! I had tons of fun listening and could totally relate to the list.

Blake Weaver

Dude I was literally like 3 rows behind you then at Alulu. Shame we didn’t get to shake hands that night. I know afterwards I talked to a fan from Hawaii for about a hour. Wish I remembered his name. I had quite a few beers myself lol

Eric from Phoenix

Crazy!! I remember Brooks but honestly don’t recall anyone else’s name :(. What a great night!!

Ben P. Stein

Similar to Jimmy Mac, it took me about 4 months after Star Wars came out in 1977 before I was on board. I was 9 years old and initially skeptical, but blown away when I saw it. Similarly, I was in high school when ROTJ came out and wasn’t much interested in SW for a little while after the trilogy was wrapped up. I got excited again in the 90s.

DarthMosk

Great convo guys! Thanks for bringing such great conversation Nate!

Tyler Page

I am weirdly into the cringy love story of the prequels myself. Sofia Coppola though?! That’s wild!!

Todd “Suds” Sedlacek

Listening to this right now and I love hearing the top fan moments from both of you.! One of my favorite fan moments was seeing TFA on opening night at the AMC City Walk in Orlando. The vibe there with the fellow fans was amazing and I will remember it forever.

Nathan Wenzel

You guys all rock so much! I wish I had more times to hang with you all on the comments section. In my car all day so in an effort not to crash the car I usually don’t see these comments until later. Great job! Can’t wait for the next RFR hang out!! Going to be epic meeting everyone!
