Chut, chut gents! The perfect soundtrack to finish the rest of the work day out to... A stamp revolution? what is this a Seinfeld crossover? Wait did the Johnson trilogy get canned? I thought it was back on? Its so weird to me...I've really enjoyed all of his films outside of TLOJ (which I'm ...Luke warm on). I wonder if he can make a solid SW film that is outside of the Skywalker saga?

Rebel Force Radio

Canned for now, at least. It was supposed to go into production in 2018. So it's definitely on the back burner at best. As we said in the show, films can be delayed sometimes for years if not decades.

Gotta upgrade to All Access, I think. Jason holding up the philatelist magazine sealed the deal. Any of you guys/gals watch the videos each week? It's always been an audio experience for me (not counting the live call-in shows).

Oh damn had no idea... as you can tell Im really keeping up-to-date on that trilogy hah. Thanks for the reply jimmy! great show as always...and I side with you I would have been happy w a 2 part JJ finale.

I’m so happy this kind of behind the scenes rumors didn’t plague the clone wars or anything Favreau is connected to. Granted there’s SOME drama reported but compared to the mess the sequels turned out to be its incredible. Personally I’ve washed my hands of those films and moved on like it never happened and I’m a incredibly happy fan. But that’s just me I don’t wanna take other fans love of them away.

James Burke

just started the episode but I had to pause it and say - Jimmy pointing out R2 as a sort of representation of George blew my friggin mind. It makes so much sense to me and I don’t know how i’ve never heard anyone say that before. Their personalities overlap big time.

Hum... This episode isn't coming through via my app, playerfm....NM had to force it to refresh and it's there

“Wunka with the Force” 😂 😂 😂

I watch the videos, it adds a depth to the podcast, and to interviews with guests, to see peoples faces. It was contagious to see Jason losing it and working hard to contain his laughter while Jimmy was riffing on ‘Wunka with the force’. And its pretty hilarious watching Paul (tho not this week) with his bed-sheet-hanging-off -a-wire looking background. You do catch more seeing their facial expressions as they talk

Eric from Phoenix

The video is typically longer (ie, not as edited) as the audio podcast. My problem is that I’m usually listening while doing yard work/exercising so video won’t work. I do love the video!

Alex

I loose it watching Jason loose it over ""wuanka with the force" Tries so hard to hide his laughter but ultimately fails. RIP Felix 🙏

Great show guys! My wife and I ended up in an elevator with Felix at one of the Celebrations (4 or first one in FL?). I knew he was an Ewok but I wasn’t sure who he played. Great to finally know his character. When you talked about the Ewok plague my first thought went to the movie Ten Commandments. I died laughing thinking about Moses and God talking about an Ewok plague. God, “Tell Pharaoh, that if he doesn’t let my people go I will send a plague of Ewoks”. Moses, “What’s an Ewok?”

I need that Scooby mash up with Star Wars ASAP

Travis Brooks

Just now listening and I'm cracking up!! 1:25 in and the Scooby-Doo references. OMG!!! Glad I had some wine before I started listening!! Great job guys keeping it fun!!

Travis Brooks

Felix sounds like he could have been Babu Frik!!! RIP.

Commander Bly

Thanks for the laugh tracks! ❤️

Just got through this one and I gotta say, as a double lower amputee I love a good missing leg joke and you guys KILLED it! I was listening at work and laughed SO hard!! People were giving me awkward stares and I didn't even care! Mr. Lars I cannot play football either (although like in Ohio we're uncultured here in Missouri and call it soccer). 🤣

Man, I've been so behind on RFR it's embarrassing.... Regardless, I just HAD to comment on a few things in this episode. First, it was one of the funniest episodes ever! Had me laughing pretty hard throughout. Especially towards the end with thar fitting tribute song. :) The spirits of the Force were with you guys in this one...or at least some sort of other spirits.... :P

But I really wanted to comment on that bit about the Chris Terrio interview. I've REALLY liked what Terrio has had to say pretty consistently, and this is no exception. He just gets it. Rey bringing the Skywalkers' sabers to rest is indeed a very comforting thing. To me, as much as I want to see Luke being the head of the new Jedi Order, it does give a feeling of real peace and rest well deserved to that family.   I think this scene helps shed light on the Force itself a little more, too. Luke and Leia became one with the Force after a lifetime of fighting and not being at peace, to say nothing of their very origin, what they were raised for,  and their dark and troubled family history. I think their weapons being put to rest is deeply symbolic of what it really means to be one with the Force; of going into eternity: Putting aside violence and struggle and leaving such things ultimately to the higher powers of the world. It's about letting go. The great task which they were destined for was finally fulfilled.   I think it also may have something to do with ancient Jedi rites of death. We don't really know anything about that, after all.

It took mea moment to find this, but it's an amazing quote from Terrio on the subject of Rey laying the sabers to rest. ""We thought of it as just paying her respects and sort of undoing the original sin at the end of the third movie [Revenge of the Sith], which is the separation of the twins. I mean, of course, they had to be separated to keep them safe, and the trilogy wouldn’t exist, the six movies wouldn’t exist if they hadn’t been separated! But that felt to us like it was almost like a wrong that needed to be righted. We very deliberately in the script described the wrapping of the sabers, as ‘like you were wrapping infants.’ That’s the thing that you see at the end of the third movie, where the two infants are wrapped, and one is sent to Tatooine to be a farmer, and one is sent to Alderaan to be a princess. Leia’s home doesn’t exist anymore, so we thought, ‘Well, Luke could take Leia to his home where he grew up, and where we first saw “Star Wars.”‘” Terrio added, “On a meta level, it was our pilgrimage there to pay respects to George and to all the Original Trilogy had meant to us. But for Rey, it was also a pilgrimage, because she obviously had heard the story of the Skywalkers from Leia, if not from Luke. Her eyes light up in ‘Episode 7’ when she hears the name Luke Skywalker, and so we thought it was a fitting end, that now she, having become part of the Skywalker legacy, would lay the sabers to rest and lay them to rest together.”

Sean W. from Warsaw

It's the bit about the original sin that needed to be righted that really moves me here. I had never really considered it in this way before I read this. It helps bring things back full circle with a finality that's pretty thoughtful.

Sean W. from Warsaw

As a comment on what Jason said, that a big thing about lightsaber is how they're handed down, I like to think that Rey does still possess those sabers, in a sense. She takes the knowledge of their construction to build her own. It's just a different way of saying the Skywalkers' legacy is being passed on. (I've also heard she does take the weapons' kyber crystals, too.)

Sean W. from Warsaw

To me, it's not much different than when Luke builds his own weapon in ROTJ. He lost what was handed down to him, but he honors it by carrying its legacy forward in his own creation. In this way, Rey making her own saber fits with Lucas's own model of the poetic rhyme-scheme of the films.
