The RFR Early Bird is flying high this week to deliver our Patreon supporters the show FIRST!

We celebrate the real STAR WARS Day - May 25th 1977 - and the 44th anniversary of the ground-breaking film that started it all. We share memories from that era, recall our favorite early Star Wars merch, the history of theatrical re-releases, Special Editions and more. Last week, news came out of Lucasfilm that Dave Filoni had received a promotion bumping him up into the executive ranks. We try to provide some insight into what this move really means. The future of THE RANGERS OF THE NEW REPUBLIC is in doubt due to a recent report the streaming show is no longer in active development. Does this mean the show is toast? We discuss!  Plus, feedback about the latest episode of THE BAD BATCH and more!

Didn’t they say that Idaflor was uninhabited?

Fettmatic

The book is called Yoda Rendezvous.

Could be. But they didn’t mention it being a system. They just say “Idaflor” is their destination and that it’s not inhabited.

I think Dooku Jedi Lost covers Dooku's Jedi days and fall to the dark side in canon. Haven't read or listened but people seem to like it

I believe you're correct on that, I'm in the same boat though. It's on my shelf, just haven't picked it up yet.

Jason’s announcer/trailer guy voice BLEW my mind! He could seriously make a living just doing that for trailers or commercials etc.

Hearing you guys reminisce about the original Star Wars reminds me of my dad growing up always telling me there was nothing like it when it was released. Difference is my dad was 26 in 77’. He’s 70 now and his tune has never changed. It affected people of all ages and never let go.

HAHA! “Turtleneck Tuskens! 😂

Awesome discussion on the Filoni promotion!

There’s some interesting stuff in Dooku Jedi Lost and Master and Apprentice, good companion pieces. Jedi Lost covers Dooku’s childhood and teenage years with Sifo Dyas, they were best friends. That covers Sifo’s debilitating visions and the effect that has on them, as well as Dooku’s interest in forbidden holocrons and prophecies. Master and Apprentice has some decent flashbacks with young Qui Gon as young Dooku’s apprentice, with Dooku passing along his interest in holocrons and prophecies, stuff the Jedi didn’t want explored. That’s where Qui Gon’s interest in prophecies and disagreements with the way the council and republic did things comes from, just not as extreme as Dooku. I didn’t really like the Jedi Lost audio drama, the character voices sounded to similar so it got confusing. But the book transcript version was good. There was also a one shot comic where Dooku makes his offer to Jango Fett. In the old EU a lot of his fall and manipulation was in the Darth Plagueis novel. Just thought I’d throw those out there in case people might be interested or didn’t know about them.

Yes! One of those episodes where I kept yelling at the guys: Dooku Jedi Lost!

Jared Cantor

Oh that skit better make it to YouTube. Haha

Batuu is sort of mentioned twice in Solo: a Star Wars Story. Qi’ra asked a waiter on Dryden Vos’ yacht: “Have you been attentive to Dok-Ondar?” And L3-37 said to Lando: “You couldn't get from here to Black Spire without me.”

I was so disappointed in the Tusken costumes in the prequels. Very fan film quality. Not sure why they didn’t put the effort like they did in the original Dtar Wars.

Great discussion guys!!! I love it when JMac gets Jason laughing, it just makes it funnier.
