Great question about using MoCap in the Clone Wars art…they finally did it in Season 7.

48:31 Filoni is talking about (upcoming series) Rebels??

Rebel Force Radio

They really only used the MoCap as reference for the Darth Maul animation in season 7, not pure MoCap. There was an attempt, but it just doesn't work with the animation. There has been a lot of misleading info out there about this.

I could definitely see the difference. Compare season 5 Maul v Emperor to season 7 Maul v Ashoka, the movements are so fluid and lifelike, not that jumpy/jerky style. Even if it wasn’t pure MoCap, you could see it in the result. And it was just for the fight scenes IIRC.

Thanks Jimmy! This interview was amazing, worth the price of admission! I like when Filoni incredulously says like ‘imagine people looking back with nostalgia at Ahsoka’ or something like that. Keep up the good work!
