When I think about the history of RFR, I always remember our earliest days as podcasters and the connection we made with Fanboys. Since we saw our first footage at Star Wars Celebration IV, we were hooked. You can see it now anytime on YouTube free with ads (see above!). We need to catch up with Fanboys director Kyle Newman soon and that will give us the perfect opportunity to ask YOUR questions about Fanboys. Patreon supporters only. Please put them in the comments below and we'll try to ask Kyle next time he's on RFR.  Do it now because he could be on anytime!

Fanboys

A group of Star Wars fans travel to Skywalker Ranch to steal a copy of "The Phantom Menace," so that their terminally ill friend can see it before its release in theaters several months down the line. The journey takes them across the country, where they encounter a series of fan-related mishaps wherever they go.

First off, this is a comfort movie of mine that I watch a ton so thanks for making it! Have you thought about what the guys would be up to around the sequel trilogy and how they’d react to it?

Jonathan Jones

Is the cut that was released Kyle’s original vision for the film or does it contain some of the studio reshoots out of necessity? If not, #releasethenewmancut

Ben Roloff

When you filmed Fanboys, did you have a vision for what each character’s reaction would be to The Phantom Menace?

Jeff Holland

Kyle got Carrie, Billy Dee and Ray Park to cameo in Fanboys? Did he try to get any other SW actors to cameo in the film? Side note: would LOVE a Fanboys reunion/screening/Q&A at SWC ‘22 w/ Kyle, Ernie, Evan, the cast. And have Jason and JMac host the Q&A.

Eric from Phoenix

How hard was it to get Lucasfilm / George to support the movie?

Blake Weaver

If there is to be a Fanboys 2 would Kyle write the crew to face off against other fandoms aside from Trekkies? Such as Battlestar fans? Or maybe they could run into some insane anime fans? Also just a thank you to Kyle because I send my Trekkie friends Fanboys clips when we get in our very real Trek vs Wars debates. #makefanboys2happen

Peter Beisser

Kyle was lucky "Fanboys" survived the evil grasp of Darth Harvey Weinstein. What are his thoughts on the cosmic karma of that Sith Lord's public fall from grace--and does that make a directors cut/sequel easier or harder to develop now?

Matt Gauck

Considering Kyle's feelings of the sequel trilogy... What would the fanboys sequel (or the third movie) look like? Is there something to say about sequel trilogy?

Graham Hancock

I was lucky enough to see the original edit of Fanboys at Star Wars Celebration Europe in 2007 – did the overwhelmingly positive reaction to that screening not help Kyle's case when it came to the studio meddling?

Todd Stewart

I'm so sorry that I missed the Fanboys screening with Jason and Jimmy in Ohio when the movie came out. I was still new to the podcast and have regretted missing the screening ever since. If you ever do sequel, could we look forward to an RFR premier?

Jeff Holland

Q for Kyle - was it always his intention for Seth Rogen to play 3 different roles? Or was it a spur-of-the-moment thing (i.e., "Hey I need someone to play Roach. Seth you wanna play another role?")

Bart Barenbrug

Did you by any chance visit the NYline, because the "What if the movie sucks?" in the cinema at the end of Fanboys soooo well captures the banter between Kris from the UK and Winnie there. Good times!

Toni van Velzen

When i grew up in the 90s it always felt like there were 2 sides. You were either Wars or Trek. My dad liked Star Wars more so thankfully i was raised on Star Wars. Later when I saw Fanboys, it only confirmed (in a funny way) that being a Star Wars fan was awesome and Trekkies were lame. To this day i kept my promise to never watch Star Trek in my life haha. Do you think that divide is still going on these days, is it less than back in the day?

Hunter Chambers

What Star Wars alumni would you try to get to cameo if there was to be a sequel to fanboys?

JR Eaton

During the Fanboys reunion not too long ago Adam Goldberg laid out his plot/ideas for a movie or even a TV show “sequel” but the rights were a nightmare right now. Has there been any progress on that front? And will Ernest Cline be involved in the writing? Huge Cline fan here.

Rebel Force Radio

These are great. Kyle will be on the show soon so we will be sure to ask him as many of these questions as possible.

Kevin H

Will we ever get the rumored sequel?

Kevin H

Would you ever consider an RFR fan to be in a sequel…
