Concerning the whole Sebastian Shaw ordeal. I, too, think it makes the most sense to keep him as Vader unmasked, for all the reasons you guys discussed. As for the Force ghost at the end, though, I have some mixed reactions. I grew up with the Special Editions, so I'm used to Shaw appearing there. But at the same time, having seen Christensen there so much, I'm more used to it--and can accept it more, for a few reasons. My brother made an interesting point once: He didn't understand who "the old man" was supposed to be. We grew up with the prequels, so pretty much always saw Christensen as Anakin. For those of us who would just casually watch the films after seeing the prequels, the broken continuity of seeing someone totally different replace Christensen's main character just wouldn't jive. Shaw's portrayal as a broken old man dying looks completely unrecognizable when you compare it to Christensen. If Anakin is redeemed, the recognizability for a casual person is paramount, I think. But, digging deeper, for us hardcore fans, I've heard an interesting theory: Force ghosts could appear in whatever form they like. We don't really have much experience with Force ghosts, so the jury is still out on this one. But this theory seems to make the most sense. Personally, I could have the Force ghost of Anakin either way. It doesn't bother me. But looking at it from a casual perspective, and from the perspective of continuity for the casual viewer if he's watching from eps I-VI, it makes more sense to change it--while leaving the incredible performance of Shaw. As for the so-called "creep factor," I'm not so sure that's not unfair to poor Hayden! Some people, I believe, just have a certain look to them that, when making certain expressions, can be misunderstood as something totally different. I'm largely sympathetic here due to how I, myself, have been misunderstood in my own expressions not too dissimilar to Hayden here! Kinda sucks, needless to say.... lol But that's life, I guess.
