Actor Devon Michael was 9-years old when he was a finalist for the role of Anakin Skywalker in STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE, a role which eventually went to Jake Lloyd. Devon can be seen in well-known Episode One documentary footage as one of George Lucas’s final three candidates for young Anakin and he joins us In The Cantina to discuss his experiences auditioning, visiting Skywalker Ranch, and the let down of not getting the gig. A new novel is coming next year called STAR WARS: SHADOW OF THE SITH that promises to fill in some of the gaps in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, and we have a MANDALORIAN set update from Carl Weathers. Plus, Star Wars in Pop Culture, listener feedback and Darth Jar Jar.

No way! You got him on the show? That's so cool. RFR is the absolute best.

"A Coruscant 7, but a Tatooine 10." LMFAO. Great score with the Devon interview. Seems like a solid guy. Nice to hear his memories even more fleshed out--esp. the insight on GL--on RFR. And Nat must be a sight to be seen IRL.

Another great interview guys! I think we need Devon to join is all in the live YouTube chats, solid dude.

This is hands down one of my favorite interviews you guys have done. And honestly that says a lot because you guys are great interviewers. Devon is not only a great interview but clearly a well-adjusted, smart dude. I loved his thoughts on non-verbal scenes and characters. As well as his thoughts on Jake and the backlash.

Wonderful interview. Me and Devon are about the same age so to hear someone’s perspective being behind the scenes kinda at the same age I was then was so interesting to hear. He sounds like such a nice and intelligent guy to. Also love how my generation was named the “VHS Generation” i think Jason said. I’m gonna wear that title with a badge of honor. OT fan first but prequels or special editions were our first big screen Star Wars experience. Thank you RFR for this amazing show, this Patreon ( my safe space for posting ), and all you do!

I enjoy the nonsensical Darth jar jar theory haha. It's definitely dumb but it reminds me of the obi 1, obi 2 theory. Just some dumb fan fun. And you know what both of those would be fun what ifs. It's not G level it's F(an) level. Like Frog Thor hah

I loved this week’s episode! What an amazing interview. You guys continue to bring fresh insights into Star Wars old and new. More George Lucas impressions please. They make me giggle.

"I could be Kitster" or some variation sounds like a cool T Shirt idea...

Fun show as always. Awesome to hear all about Devon’s experience and perspective on casting process. I absolutely loved Jason’s Anakin “head canon”. Made sense and I had never thought of that before. Holly (voicemail) needs to join Patreon. All kinds of throw back discussions with the various VIP guest hosts. She would love it! Maybe gift her one month to try it out?
