Was the Sequel Trilogy a five-course meal, or a greasy cheeseburger? Can the story continue to be expanded upon in the same fashion THE CLONE WARS expanded the Prequel Trilogy? Speaking of the prequels, would that story have benefited more from a GODFATHER II-like format? RFR V.I.P. (and newcomer to the Q&A) Jamie Bruno leads a level-headed conversation about this topic and how it’s best as a fan to consider the STAR WARS stories that actually exist as opposed to agonizing over the ones that never happened.

How could they expand the sequel Trilogy when there isn't even a year that passes between The Force Awakens and Rise Of Skywalker ? How the characters are even supposed to learn to really know each other ?

Blake Weaver

Jamie really enjoyed hearing you for the first time. Can’t wait for future epic discussions!

Jared Cantor

Can't wait to listen to a new VIP! And I was just thinking about having nothing to listen to while I scrubbed toilets lol

Jared Cantor

Yes, I think the sequel trilogy referencing the OT, instead of what inspired the OT, is a big flaw. But I still love TFA. The 180 and subversion in TLJ then just throws you for a loop

Wow! Deep conversation. Really loved this one right out the gate. Speaking my language here, Jamie. And it's awesome to finally hear someone else talk about the ST as a Q&A topic. Lol I keep coming back to that sort of motto of "the Star Wars that is," and you guys reinforcing that so much is so refreshing. It's something I'm always trying to come back to when I'm tempted to hang up the hat on the ST. I totally agree it puts you at a disadvantage. Thanks for keeping the conversation so grounded in that way, guys. A lot of somewhat heady stuff in this Q&A about influences and such, which can be hard to navigate in an accessible way, but you did it well. Looking forward to more from you, Jamie!

Brian Koehler

Great episode! Thanks Jamie for all the stuff you brought to the conversation. Really poignant message at the end Jimmy

Loved this episode! I feel like Jamie is a thinking man’s Star Wars fan. Hope we get more episodes from you in the new year.

Tyler Page

Great episode! What I would do for a godfather 2 esque Star Wars movie! I always have to remind my cinephile friends of GLs vast influence. Never enough respect on his name

I used to go to Rochester for business trips and we always joked about getting a garbage plate for lunch. Great episode Jamie and Jimmy.

Great qa Jamie! Think I left two voicemails based on the convo! To the group: if we get a sequel era tcw like show that fills in the gaps...what are the gap you want filled in? I'd like to see: * Luke training young Ben and others * Ben's downfall * Han and Leia drifting apart * Rise of snoke and first order

John Riley

Great, smart discussions and I’m about to listen my second time. Thanks!

Great job Jamie! I think Kathy K. is a great producer but is she a good storyteller? Those two things are vastly different roles / skill set. I like the Prequels but George needed people to tell him when his ideas were wrong / dumb / over the top, etc. Rick M's job was to get the movies done on time and under budget and to get George whatever he wanted. It was George's money and toys and he had a right to do what he wanted but it would've been good to have people to truly collaborate with in making the Prequels. It was a different situation during the OT era. George had to collaborate to get the films made. Huge impact of Gloria Katz, Huyck, Hirsch and his ex-wife on A New Hope and Kazdan / Kershner helped shape the story for Empire. I agree with Jimmy, the Clone Wars really helped improve / expand the Prequel films.

This QA was on point coming out just before Book of Bobba. The whole godfather 2 convo in particular. I was watching ep. 1 doing the "Leo Pointing at the tv" meme, like Jamie and JMAC were just asking for this!!

Nick Whenham

Great discussion that I only just found the time to listen to. Thanks guys!

Jeff Holland

Welcome to the RFR VIPs, Jamie! Love the comparison of the ST to fast food. Spot on!

Kyle Starkel

Interesting discussion and I like the fast food comparison! I’ll throw another one out there - the sequel trilogy was like plastic fruit your grandparents sit out on their table. It looks amazing but don’t try to bite into it because it’s hollow, fake and you’ll crack a tooth!
