Hello RFR community soon I will be talking with the one and only... Jimmy Mac on RFR Q&A. I need your help to identify the greatest most significant lightsaber duel across the Star Wars Universe.  Please fill out this quick survey spanning the nine movies (your answers will be anonymous).  Answers are based on 3 points each with 1-5 rating, 5 being the greatest.  I will be expanding the survey over the next couple of months to include Animation, and Books.

My favourite duel as a kid was Luke vs Vader in Jedi but through this criteria I think Obi/Quigon vs Maul in Ep 1 and Luke vs Vader in Empire are the absolute pinnacle

I’m from the original trilogy generation and I grew up loving those lightsaber duels. Say what you will about The Phantom Menace but that lightsaber duel at the end of the film is hard to beat in my opinion.

Done. Sorry but the Luke versus Darth Vader duel in Empire is still the best for all of the categories listed, at least in my opinion :)

Good luck with your survey! Look forward to hearing the results. FYI, I rated "visual effects" based on the technical capabilities of the time, not by contemporary standards. Maybe others did as well.

IMHO, EPI Qui/Obi v Maul still the GOAT for choreography (especially w/Duel of the Fates playin'). Thank-you, Nick Gallard!

Me too! But I was still two when I saw Star Wars in cinemas during a rerelease in summer of 1979, so I don't remember it that well. More than the effects, I remeber some theater staff guy dressed up as Darth Vader!
