This Qui-John bit is one of the funniest bits you guys have done! Hearing Qui-John call Swank a little bastard almost made me spit out my coffee. LOL! I love when Qui-John comes on the show.

Swank introduced me to the concept of “value engineering” and I think about it constantly. It’s what we’re seeing with Marvel where they’re having to pull back on their output now that their stuff is subpar and oversaturated. If you try to “engineer” success in entertainment, you usually end up flushing your franchise down the Qui-John.

Agreed, I think that’s what’s wrong with “Hollywood” right now. There’s no creativity, no taking chances, everything is a “formula”.

Philip Ehlke

Exactly. Some execs are wise to this, leaning more toward the creative side than a typical suit. Iger for example was quick to point out the creative stagnation of the late-Eisner era of Disney (similar woes were in full force under Chapek). Overall, studios inevitably have to balance artistry with commercial appeal. It’s a delicate alchemy.
