RFR EARLY BIRD RELEASE!

With the debut of AHSOKA a little over a month away, the marketing machine at Lucasfilm is starting to kick things into gear with the release of an all-new full trailer for the upcoming series. We pick apart the new footage looking for hints and clues. INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY is finally in theaters and we share our spoiler-heavy reviews and opinions. Director James Mangold is moving from Indy to STAR WARS as he's currently prepping his "Dawn of the Jedi" film. We have some fresh comments from Mangold about not only his upcoming STAR WARS film, but his scrapped BOBA FETT film. Plus, listener voicemail prompts speculation about the upcoming Rey Skywalker follow-up film starring Daisy Ridley, and PUPPET LANDO is back with the world premiere of his all-new song, "This Deal Is Getting Worse All The Time".

I think Thrawn looks a little more like a blue Elon Musk. But I can see the Data resemblance too. They should use whatever they want from any written EU/Legends material and adapt it however they want. In my personal head cannon and just my opinion is that Star Wars is a fantastical viewing experience and the books, comics, etc. are fun and interesting (if you like reading fantasy fiction) but they don’t really count as part of the story for me. I certainly recognize them and try to learn about some of them but they are just possibilities to me, and I have absolutely no problem if they are adapted or completely disregarded for animation or live action.

Few points -- - I loved Indy, it was fun and frought, just like Indy should be. Phoebe WB was great in parts, but a tad annoying. My kids (13 & 16) were bored though. Complete disclosure -- I was an extra in Temple of Doom. So the kids were happy I was happy. - Ahsoka is my favourite SW character. The Trailer left me a little worried. Hera looks odd (the glasses?!), and Thrawn just a little plastic. Super hyped though, and rewatching Rebels ahead of the release.

A big reason these Lucasfilm/ marvel films are costing so much is the heavy reliance on CGI and constant reshoots because these writers they get are literally making it up as they go causing reshoots later. Add 50-100 million dollars to the “budget” to these films and you get the real amount spent. That added in with people who don’t trust these companies anymore and won’t give them money like you all mentioned toward the end results in things like this Indy box office disaster. Just my two cents on that topic from this week. Happy to have rfr back after the holiday break! Made my rainy workday a lot better.

Great episode folks! Excited for Ashoka, I’m not even a huge Clone Wars carnosaur and haven’t watched Rebels, but the trailer looks really good. The Puppet Lando/RFR Patreon collaboration was fire!! Great job all involved. Glad you guys enjoyed Indy, I had mentioned on a post in the community page… I didn’t much care for it, I will gladly watch it a second time when it’s on Disney + and hope my review changes.

Welcome back, RFR! Really excited for Ahsoka. I read the series will take place along the same timeline as Mandalorian Season 3 and the episodes from both shows will be connected somehow. Will be interesting to see how the Jack Black episode falls into play haha.

Love the episode. I have never seen more than 1 episode of Clone Wars, so this stuff is all very new to me. I am really hoping the show runners don’t assume everyone knows these characters. Looking forward to learn more about them.

I think other folks were so eager for some Indy feedback from RFR that it was just inevitable they would discuss without warning. Plus 2 weeks after release date, you are on your own in terms of spoilers.

I was eager for the guy’s feedback. However, I just cannot reconcile the fact that it just wasn’t a good movie. I’m not a negative viewer. I go in with my full heart to see these movies. But I won’t apologize for a badly plotted film just because Harrison Ford was in it. I expect that these big budget movies containing my Heroes to be more thought out and actually gripping. I don’t want medium grade films being added to the best franchises of all time

My money is on that inquistor looking baddy is actually Barris Offee. I think whe the Jedi fell, she was taken by the Sith from imprisonment. I think this would be an amazing character challenge for Ahsoka. An opportunity for confrontation and closue as that bombing incident had such a profound impact on her path as a Jedi.

I have a theory on what it’s safe to assume is the Inquisitor we see in the trailer and it goes back to the Ahsoka novel by EK Johnston. In that book, Ahsoka defeats an Inquisitior without her lightsabers, much like she did in the Tales of The Jedi animated short. The book goes a step further when Ahsoka takes the kyber crystals from the downed Inquisitor’s lightsaber because they were calling to her through the Force. Then, she reversed the bleeding that gave the crystals their red color and installs them in the two hilts she has constructed, ignites them and is rewarded with two bright white blades. I would look for this to be depicted in live action in the first episode during a flashback scene.
