Just got this great collection of pix from Bart!

Best wishes for 2024! Thank you for the time to catch up (I started running
behind with all the after shows). I just listened to your awesome interview with
the Heder brothers, and all the talk of using white blankets for Hoth and of
Lego took me back to when I was young and I had my Star Wars vehicles, action
figures and other Star Wars items on display in my childhood room (with some
Lego support). I found some pictures of that from September of '84, May of '85
and an update later that year. I thought maybe you'd enjoy those. It could
potentially be a sort of retro RFR Collectors Spotlight, but since it shows
quite some duplication over time, and the quality of the pictures is not so
great (analogue photo prints, stored for some 4 decades, only recently scanned),
I don't know.

Anyway, looking forward to another year of Star Wars and RFR. Thank you so much
for all you guys do! You're always with me when I drive to/from work and when I
do dishes...  ;)

Came here to say the same thing. Lovely stuff

Turtle Wars

Wow, very cool! You got your hands on a Yak Face back in 1985? Nice!

Davin

Wow, wicked!

Jared Cantor

This is how playing with your SW figures should be!

Scanning those old pictures really brings the past back to life. Nice going, Bart.

Wow, loved seeing these old school pictures. Very cool to see how you had all the scenes set up.

Okay, I was looking for a Blue Snaggletooth and missed the Yak Face. I need to go back and look for it.

Bart Barenbrug

No. No blue Snaggletooth: the first item I bought was the INT-4 mini-rig in June of 1980. I remember coming back home from biking all the way (for a kid) to and from the town center where the toy store was, only to find out at home that there was no action figure included. I know it states so on the packaging, but 8-year old me didn't know English! So I had to bike all the way back and forth again to go buy a stormtrooper figure. I didn't know anything about Star Wars at the time, and ESB was still a few months away from coming to our dutch cinemas. I also watched ESB at the cinema "cold", not having any prior ANH knowledge. Let me tell you: that leaves a whole different first impression of Darth Vader! This character that bullies these officers that make one mistake after the other and then he himself is so late he just sees the Falcon soar away from him. Not as impressive as I later came to know him! But he had cool toys at his disposal, and to this day the battle of Hoth remains one of my favorite Star Wars sequences. Thanks for all the comments. Glad to see the pictures are being enjoyed.

That 80s heater. We had a similar one!

Brian Walters

Fantastic! Love the mixture of legos with the Kenner figures for the dioramas.

Bolder Boulder

This is quite a collection! I especially like the Lego rafters built for the Imperials to get in and out of the walkers. Nice touch
