STAR WARS fans find inspiration in a galaxy far, far away through revisiting the films, the theme parks, and their own personal collections of memorabilia. Then, there's RFR V.I.P Scott St. Louis, who was inspired to return to STAR WARS collecting after hearing an RFR conversation about Dengar's codpiece. Scott takes over the Q&A this week to tell the tale, plus, he shares highlights from a family trip he took to Galaxy's Edge in Orlando and offers tips for those considering a visit to the park.

Scott, dug the chat with JMac this week! I went to Galaxy's Edge for the 1st time just last week after wrapping an Orlando work meeting. So, it was cool hearing about your trek there with it so fresh on my brain (Enjoy your upcoming trip there, too, JMac). Bless you for taking the family because just for me for one day, it sure was an expensive affair--and the only keepsake I got my wife was a Kowakian Monkey-Lizard. But an awesome adventure--take heed of Scott's tips, folks, if you're going. Always great to hear you share your SW stories, pal! MTFBWY.

We had early access to Disney World Galaxy's Edge and chose to do Smuggler's Run the first hour. We rode it 5 times before the park opened to everyone else. The family had a great time and were able to sit in every seat and the kids were able to be pilots on multiple runs. The family had a blast on it and the cast members were giving us high fives as we entered and yelled "Ride it again!" Rode it one more time with Genie+ and used a Lightning Lane later in the morning for Rise of the Resistance. This gave us all morning to roam Galaxy's Edge and hack at each location, bounty hunt, droid build, and take in all the shops. This was in June 2023.

Can’t wait to listen. I’m going to galaxy’s edge Orlando for the first time next month! Stoked, we’ve got some night passes and can stay from park closing until 2 am. Hope the cantina stays open!

Fun discussion guys! I agree with Scott, the only food at Galaxies Edge I thought was good was the ronto roaster (also my wife's favorite). Docking Bay 7 food is just meh. The Tatooine Sunset is a good non-alcoholic drink. There are several restaurants (including Ooga's) that take reservations 60 days in advance (I think). I paid to use a third party app for our last Disneyland trip and it made it so much easier to get reservations the minute they open (you don't know exactly what time they open). To me, this was well worth the $9 to get the reservations. The site is here -> https://mousedining.com/ Here's a website that walks through the dining experiences at Disney World. https://www.mousehacking.com/blog/complete-guide-to-disney-world-dining-reservations I agree with Scott, the Avatar Banshee ride is amazing and the land looks cool. The Avatar river ride is meh. That's all that's at the Avatar land. The Banshee ride is totally worth it.

For what it’s worth, I believe there are buttons in the gloves that the masked characters use to speak.

Interesting thing happened to me at my visit to galaxy's edge in Oct 2022. I did rise of resistance first, then went on the falcon...like 4 Times...and, I, as well took time to sit at the holochess table like it seems all RFR members do....rode star tours multiple Times.... but I couldn't get in the Cantina. I knew I didn't have reservations but no one would even let me peek inside. I asked multiple employees multiple times. And still wasn't allowed to even have someone open the door let me see inside and close it immediately. I told them I was from far away, and wouldn't be back for years. No one cared not even the customer service did. Oh well 😭 But I did love the park!!! A arm and a leg, but worth it. Also i got the photo package. I liked it. Got photos everywhere! And some they even digitally enhanced...like porgs on your shoulder, baby Yoda on your knee ect. Great q&a!!!

That’s so disappointing that they didn’t tell you how to get in the standby queue. It’s all done through the app. The standby opportunities do eventually end depending on demand. Glad you were able to go and have fun in a galaxy far, far away.

Great episode Scott!! To put your mind at ease that treeta dobra doesn’t mean anything dirty 😛, it translates to “Council of Elders” according to Wookieepedia.

Kenny

It was disappointing. And I'm starting to see im missing out on some things by not using apps. I'm a not so savvy phone person, and when I'm on vacation I usually do not use my phone. I'll be better prepared next time 👍

Eric from Phoenix

Yep, at Disney you need to use the app for the best experience. It’s actually a really good app that greatly enhances your experience. This includes ordering food while you’re in line and being able to pick it up when you get off the ride. Same thing for drinks. So much better than waiting in line :)

Kenny

Next time I'll go with Swank! Join his star wars rat pack and he'll use his Jedi influence to get us in! 🍻

Scott St. Louis

Disney parks are not a vacation, I compare it to a mountain that you climb. But if you can have fun with the planning, making reservations doing the research, it makes the anticipation all worth the pay off in the end.

The monkey lizard is so much fun! That’s what I got my first time going, and my daughter now keeps it in her room because she says I neglect it

Very excited to see the Mac collection tour video!!
