I think this is one of my best strips to date in terms of characterization. After the nearly slapstick disaster of their initial meeting, this is a slow and intimate sequence where we learn about Teri's routine and about Nahid's traumatic past while laying some groundwork for the relationship between these two. I think this strip found a lot of resonance with its audience, which is the greatest mark of success I can ask for with my work - particularly as I'm writing pretty far outside my own lived experience here. The one thing I'm kind of kicking myself over was making Nahid's outfit all olive drab because it inadvertently gave a few readers the impression that she was ex-military. Visual storytelling is powerful stuff! I might end up changing that in the book just so it doesn't throw people off.
