Junkyard Dolls: Charge PROCESS (Patreon)

This one was so much fun to put together and involved quite a collaboration with my good friend Jo Tyler aka KittyCatalyst.My writing and thumbnailing process are kind of linked, as I prefer to incorporate the dialogue into layout as early as possible. I will sometimes take down notes for a story in text, but the rough and word balloons are added more or less simultaneously.After doing the roughs, I handed it off to Jo who interpreted them into refined "pencils". These are always a delight to me because I get to see my design ideas rendered with Jo's personal touches. Next step I will ink these into line art, draw in background elements and then hand that back to Jo for a final coloring pass. Once she's done that I do minor tweaks and stick a fork in it.

Jo 😈: It is an absolute delight to draw these rascals. Alex has such a fantastically expressive style, and I try hard to carry that forward into my version, even though my style is pretty different. Looking forward to what these guys get up to next!
