This is a very understated and thoughtful sequence, but there's a lot of detail I tried to cram in. Tilly works herself nearly to death, but she's still human and still English so a morning cuppa is a rare little moment of peace between the long periods of chaos. The delicate ritual with cup, spoon and tea bag leads into panel two, where the long brick wall eases the eye toward Tilly taking a very short break for herself. Unfortunately her view is not exactly a calming one. In panel 3 we finally see the full dreadful extent of the lot from the beginning of the chapter. The smoke is coming from a pyre in the center where unidentified or ones too decomposed to leave out would be incinerated. The worker giving a report on the phone holds a message sheet that mirrors the field of bodies. Lines of names, lines of corpses. Plain, banal, routine. He flagrantly disregards the "no smoking" sign because who gives a shit anymore?Tilly's going to try and enjoy that Tea, but I think she knows it'll be another long day.

Im enjoying the human side. Oddly relatable at the moment.

I'm also enjoying the slice of life, hidden inside a horrendous situation. This whole comic has been incredibly enjoyable, thus far, and these commentaries are a nice chance to revisit after some time to process. The level of thought you put in shows, even when I don't catch all of it the first time around.
