This was a tricky sequence to put together, and I wish I had done more visually rather than relating it all through dialogue but I think it works. Lots of pointing from these characters.In panel two, Tilly has her head tipped down to shade her face. This is one of the "expressions" I was talking about on the previous page. Characters wearing respirators or masks can't emote with their eyes or mouth, but if you're clever with how they tip their head up and down or side to side you can get a surprising amount out of the gesture. For example, one of the reasons I include brimmed hats or helmets on these kinds of characters is so that they can mimic brows or narrowing of eyes - even to the extent of consternation or glowering as Tilly is here. You can really see this in action if you contrast Muskgrave's pose from panel three to panel five. Hat tilted down, shoulders hunched, crossed arms - a frustrated rumination. The uneven word bubble adds a little bit of rasp to his dialogue to complete the emotion.
