Maybe beside the description of the characters within the Andernya book, you could include "character cards" or sheets, with the picture of the character on the front side and informations about the character on the back side.

Yes there are! One of the old (fallen)gods in the lore, Denthir the Beast, loved to "play god" and create all kinds of creatures, which later evolved to various species. There are some designed to be trained battle-beast, but there are some peaceful ones too - most of them are not humanoid but more like enchanced hybrids of different animals. I have just recently started to work on a part of the book where some will be mentioned in more detail and I plan to make a few sketches too! :)
